8/26/25 Former Lions WR out in Houston after strong preseason finale back in Detroit. Quintez Cephus is being waived by the Houston Texans after turning in a solid preseason finale back in Detroit. Cephus, who was a 2020 fifth-round pick by the Lions, caught four passes for 51 yards and one impressive touchdown against the Lions. The 27-year-old wide receiver has not appeared in a regular-season since 2022 while still with the team that drafted him.

July 24 - The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Quintez Cephus to a one-year deal on Thursday and waived running back Israel Abanikanda. Cephus, 27, was a fifth-round pick by Detroit in the 2020 NFL Draft and last appeared in a game with the Lions in 2022. The league suspended him for the 2023 season for betting on NFL games. Cephus caught 37 passes for 568 yards and four touchdowns in 22 games (six starts) for Detroit from 2020-22. After being reinstated by the league in April 2024, he spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams. MADISON, WI (WSAU) – A former star receiver at the University of Wisconsin is getting a second chance in the NFL after serving a full-year gambling suspension. 5/16/24 Bills make decision on controversial Wide Receiver's roster status. The NFL stands for "not for long" when it comes to receiver Quintez Cephus's stint with the Buffalo Bills. Fewer than three weeks after signing the recently re-instated pass-catcher, who served a one-year gambling-related suspension, the Bills released Cephus to make room for defensive back Dee Delaney. Buffalo was at the maximum number of 90 rostered players plus one international exemption. Cephus, a reclamation project who signed in late April, became expendable when Buffalo proceeded to add two more receivers to a crowded room.
