9/18/24 Cubs could target reigning Cy Young to bolster rotation for 2025. The Chicago Cubs may be a team to watch in free agency this offseason. There will be plenty of other options, including left-hander Blake Snell, who won the National League Cy Young Award last year. Perhaps he could be a fit for the Cubs.

9/18/24 Blake Snell gets 12 Ks as Giants blank skidding Orioles 10-0. Blake Snell struck out 12 over six innings and allowed just one hit to carry the San Francisco Giants past the faltering Baltimore Orioles 10-0. The Orioles have lost seven of nine to fall four games behind the first-place Yankees in the AL East. Baltimore held a half-game lead on Sept. 5 before its current tailspin, during which it has been outscored 46-18. On Tuesday night, the Giants got the only run they needed when Mike Yastrzemski drove the second pitch from Orioles starter Albert Suárez over the right-field wall.

9/17/24 Blake Snell, Giants dominate punchless Orioles. San Francisco's Blake Snell held the host Baltimore Orioles to one hit across six innings with 12 strikeouts and the Giants began a nine-game road trip by winning 10-0 on Tuesday night. Mike Yastrzemski provided a big night at the plate with a home run and a run-scoring single, while LaMonte Wade Jr. and Michael Conforto also drove in two runs apiece. The Giants (73-78) won for just the second time in their last seven games.

9/15/24 Could San Francisco Giants Replace Ace With World Series Champion?. The San Francisco Giants have a lot to figure out this offseason. What won't help is their ace Blake Snell is expected to opt-out of his contract and hit the open market in search of his megadeal after putting together a strong second half of the year. The Giants can certainly try to re-sign him, keeping him at the top of their rotation with Logan Webb, it's unclear if they are willing to spend around $200-$300 million to keep him in San Francisco with so many other areas needing to be addressed. If they feel like they would rather spend money elsewhere, then they could turn their attention to 2023 World Series champion ace Nathan Eovaldi if he also decided to opt-out of his player option.

9/15/24 San Francisco Giants Have Discovered Foundational Piece To Build Around in 2024. Not much has gone according to plan for the San Francisco Giants during the 2024 season. After a slow start, Blake Snell has looked like the ace the Giants thought they were getting. Others, such as the Robbie Ray trade, have not provided much of a positive impact. Nick Ahmed and top prospect Marco Luciano battled it out in spring training for the starting job.

9/13/24 San Francisco Giants Ace Predicted To Sign Multi-Year Deal With Different Team. The San Francisco Giants season is essentially over. In what will go down as one of the more disappointing campaigns around Major League Baseball, the Giants have a ton of work they need to do this winter. Priority No. 1 will be what they do with Blake Snell. The left-hander is expected to opt-out of his contract, paving the way for him to sign a new deal with a different team.

9/09/24 Giants' 2 early free agent targets in 2024 MLB offseason. As September gets going, the San Francisco Giants are in real danger of finishing their third consecutive season without a winning record. At 71-73, they're technically not out of the playoff race, but suffice it to say things have not gone as expected for a team that brought in Blake Snell, Matt Chapman, and Robbie Ray in the offseason. Staring down another long winter, Giants fans can take comfort in the age-old saying: There's always next year. Every team looking to contend is going to at least inquire about Juan Soto.

9/08/24 A Giants Pitcher Bought Pizza for the Padres' Front Office. Blake Snell is apparently a man of his word. Despite signing with the San Francisco Giants earlier this season, the former San Diego Padres left-hander had pizzas delivered to the San Diego front office to continue a trend he began two years ago. In a Facebook post screen-grabbed by Talking Friars, "Last year's party was so much fun" and the employees were "all bummed he didn't remain" with the team this season. While Snell tried to remain anonymous by signing the card as "An Old Friend," the Padres knew the note (and the food) could only come from one benefactor.

9/07/24 Perfect San Francisco Giants Target Predicted To Leave Current Team in Offseason. The San Francisco Giants will have multiple ways to improve their team during the offseason. Factor in the possibility of losing Blake Snell, and the need for more talent is greater than ever. While that's a lot of money to give a player who's having a career year, he's been an excellent professional throughout his MLB tenure and should be worth the price. If anything, it's a positive sign the Giants aren't afraid to spend money.

9/06/24 Snell Pulled After 1 Inning and Giants Rally Past Diamondbacks Behind Bailey's 3 RBIs. Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell was removed after a 42-pitch first inning, and San Francisco rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 Thursday behind an walk-off double in the ninth from Patrick Bailey, who drove in all three Giants runs. Arizona sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning, taking advantage of defensive sloppiness.

9/06/24 Giants rally past Diamondbacks 3-2 behind Bailey's 3 RBIs. Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell was removed after a 42-pitch first inning, and San Francisco rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 Thursday behind a walk-off double in the ninth from Patrick Bailey, who drove in all three Giants runs. Arizona sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning, taking advantage of defensive sloppiness. Shortstop Tyler Fitzgerald threw wide of second for a run-scoring error on Josh Bell's grounder and Corbin Carroll scored from third on a passed ball as Jake McCarthy reached on the dropped third strike.

9/05/24 Where Blake Snell's free agent market stands amid resurgent 2024 second-half. Blake Snell signed a two-year, $62 million deal with the San Francisco Giants right before the 2024 season kicked off. After a slow start, Snell has regained his dominant form on the mound. It's widely believed that the veteran lefty will opt out of his contract and test free agency for the second straight offseason.

9/04/24 San Francisco Giants Left-Hander Named NL Pitcher of the Month. In the month of August, the Giants were one-game over .500, as they had a 14-13 record. While a winning month was great to see, it wasn't enough to help them gain any ground in the extremely competitive National League Wild Card race. Due to the Giants never really having an excellent month at any point this season, it is easy to see why they have been hovering around the .500 mark for most of 2024. Left-hander Blake Snell was able to put together one of the best months we will see from any pitcher in any month in August.

9/03/24 Potential San Francisco Giants Target Named Top-10 Free Agent This Offseason. Barring anything drastic happening in the final month of the regular season, the San Francisco Giants can start planning for the offseason. It's been as disappointing of a campaign as the Giants could've ever expected, and with many holes to fill in the offseason, the front office has their work cut out for them. With Blake Snell and Matt Chapman potentially leaving, there's a chance that San Francisco will be significantly worse next year. Around the trade deadline, the Giants were believed to have an interest in a center fielder and shortstop.

9/02/24 Mets Breakout Starter Expected To Be Available With Red Sox Making Sense. The Boston Red Sox will need to take a look at the starting rotation this upcoming winter. Boston currently still is in the mix for an American League Wild Card spot, but there still is room for growth. The Red Sox will seriously need to consider adding another starter this winter in order to actually contend in the American League next season. There will be some frontline options out there like Blake Snell, and some others who could be had at an affordable rate.

8/30/24 New Rankings Expose Chasm Between San Francisco Giants Ace, Rest of Staff. San Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell is pitching like a two-time Cy Young winner these days, and a recent ranking of starting pitchers proves it. The more interesting piece of the puzzle was the gap between Snell and his teammates and how losing him in free agency could put San Francisco in a really tight spot. The Athletic recently ranked the Top 150 starting pitchers in baseball, an exercise it goes through at various times during the season. With the final month approaching, Snell is among the best in baseball.

8/29/24 Red Sox Linked To Familiar Superstar In Possible Blockbuster Signing. Will the Boston Red Sox significantly improve the starting rotation this winter? Boston will enter the offseason with the starting rotation being among the team's biggest roster holes for the second straight season. The Red Sox have some work to do and there will be plenty of options available in free agency who can help for the 2025 campaign and beyond. The Red Sox were mentioned as the sixth-best landing spot for San Francisco Giants ace Blake Snell by Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer.
