8/31/24 Orlando Arcia, Braves bid to battle boo birds in Philly. Every time Atlanta Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia has stepped into the batter's box at Citizens Bank Park in 2024, he has been greeted by boos from the Philadelphia Phillies fans. Entering Saturday night's matchup between the National League East rivals, Arcia might hope that the Phillies' fans continue to shower him with jeers. In Atlanta's 7-2 win on Friday, Arcia recorded his first multi-homer game as a Brave and just the second of his career, with the other coming in 2019 as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Orlando Arcia hit a pair of solo homers, the first one as part of back-to-back shots with Sean Murphy to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 7-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Reynaldo López (8-4) went six innings and won his second straight start. Bryson Stott and J.T. Realmuto homered for the Phillies. While both teams are just about a lock to reach the playoffs, a split of the first two games of a four-game weekend set between the NL East rivals moved the Braves within five games of the disision-leading Phillies with 27 games left in the season.

Orlando Arcia hit a pair of solo homers, the first one as part of back-to-back shots with Sean Murphy in the third inning, to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 7-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. While both teams are about a lock to reach the playoffs, a split of the first two games of a four-game weekend set between the NL East rivals moved the Braves within five games of the division-leading Phillies with 27 games left in the season. Reynaldo López (8-4) won his second straight start and has seemingly rebounded from an 0-3 June. López gave up one run and tossed four-hit ball over six innings.

Travis d’Arnaud had a tiebreaking RBI single in the sixth inning in his first game in a week, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 for their sixth win in seven games. Orlando Arcia and Ramón Laureano hit solo home runs, and Whit Merrifield had two hits, two walks and scored a run for the Braves. Four Atlanta relievers combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings and Pierce Johnson pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. He was in for Rasiel Iglesias, who was unavailable after working three games in four days. Nationals rookie José Tena was 3 for 4 with a two-run homer, the first of his career. CJ Abrams and Andrés Chaparro added two hits each for Washington.

Marcel Ozuna lined a single up the middle to score the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Atlanta Braves beat the visiting Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Tuesday to end a three-game losing streak. The Braves, who had scored only 20 runs over their previous eight games, added an insurance run in the eighth on Orlando Arcia's infield grounder. The winning pitcher was Joe Jimenez (1-0), who pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Reynaldo López struck out seven over six scoreless innings, Orlando Arcia homered and the Atlanta Braves won their third straight, 6-2 over the Houston Astros. López allowed four hits and walked one in his third straight sterling outing to start the season. He has given up one run in 18 innings for an ERA of 0.50. Arcia hit a solo home run to left in the second and a sacrifice fly in the seventh. The Braves added four runs in the ninth to make it 6-0. Kyle Tucker homered in the ninth for the Astros, who made it 6-2 before Raisel Iglesias got the final out for his fourth save.

Finally, the calendar feels like it's real, and not some Sophon-induced San-ti delusion. Wait, is that the countdown to the end of my season flashing through my head? No worries -- we've got 6 months! My role in 2024 has shifted away from pitching and is now focused on hitting. I'll cover pitchers as well as their stats become more interesting down the line. But we are in serious small sample size territory right now.

Orlando Arcia hit a home run and right-hander Charlie Morton went five strong innings as the Atlanta Braves earned a 5-2 victory Thursday over the visiting New York Yankees at North Port, Fla. The 40-year-old Morton, who is heading into his 17th major league season, gave up two runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts as he improved to 2-1 on the spring. On Monday, it was revealed that Arcia did not suffer a fracture, per David O'Brien of The Athletic.
