With eight days left until the Aug. 1 trade deadline, most of the attention has focused on the most obvious candidates: Players with expiring contracts. 6/15/23 A's moving to Vegas conjures polar emotions in Tigers' Shreve, Hinch. Minneapolis —Tigers' lefty reliever Chasen Shreve was born and raised in Las Vegas. Tigers' manager AJ Hinch was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the third round in 1996 and spent the first four years of his professional career with that franchise. Obviously, the sale of the Athletics and the franchise's move to Las Vegas by the 2027 season conjures different emotions for each. “Now I have to play until 2027,” said Shreve, who is going to turn 33 on July 12.

5/03/23 Tigers' Shreve looks to regain sweep in his slider; White gets call-up. The plan was for lefty reliever Chasen Shreve to complement his elite splitter with a sweeping slider; the former sinks and fades; the other, ideally, would stay on a horizontal plane through the strike zone. “It's not working,” Shreve said Tuesday. “When I first did it in spring training, it was pretty good,” he said. The positive is, the regular slider has been effective.

3/16/23 2023 Tigers player preview: Chasen Shreve has inside track to a bullpen spot. Reliever Chasen Shreve came the Detroit Tigers spring camp knowing there were bullpen openings for left-handers in particular. In Soto's wake, Tyler Alexander was the only southpaw reliever with a claim on the active roster. Shreve isn't going to replace Soto in the late innings any more than Alexander could, but so far the 32-year-old has seized the pole position among the group of lefties Scott Harris assembled this spring.
