4/02/24 With former Mariners off to hot starts, it's tempting to wonder what could have been. Because, while runs have been frustratingly scarce in Seattle, former Mariners have unanimously mashed. Consider the list of players that graced the Mariners' lineup for long stints last season. Kelenic — who was traded with Marco Gonzales and Evan White for pitchers Jackson Kowar and Cole Phillips, an unceremonious salary dump — has delivered six hits with two RBI and one walk in his first 11 at-bats (a .545 average) for the Braves.

4/01/24 Pirates look for more against Nationals after opening sweep. The franchise most recently had a winning season in 2018 and hasn't appeared in the postseason since the 2015 National League wild-card game. Pittsburgh enters play Monday afternoon as a winner of its first four games for just the fourth time in the past 40 years, following a sweep in Miami over the Marlins. Marco Gonzales (4-1 with a 5.22 ERA in 2023) is scheduled to take the mound for Pittsburgh, as the left-hander will make his first start with the club after being acquired from the Atlanta Braves in the offseason. The Braves sent him to Pittsburgh after they acquired him from Seattle, where he had played for the previous six-plus seasons.

12/07/23 The Pirates offseason passivity. While the Pittsburgh Pirates front office likely were busy patting themselves on the back yesterday during the last day of the winter meetings for letting the Atlanta Braves pay them to take Marco Gonzales, a soft-tossing lefty coming off a major nerve injury and a surgery with a terrible track record, Eduardo Rodriguez signed a four-year $80 million contract to pitch for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jeimer Candelario also signed a contract for three years with the division rival Cincinnati Reds for $45 million. Left-handed starter Wade Miley resigned with the Milwaukee Brewers recently for... blah blah blah, you could talk yourself blue in the face playing that game at this point.
