7/28/24 Jorge Polanco homers twice, adds RBI single to help the Mariners beat the White Sox 6-3. Jorge Polanco hit two solo homers and added an RBI single to help the Seattle Mariners beat the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Saturday night. The Mariners remained a game behind first-place Houston in the AL West. Cal Raleigh cracked his team-leading 21st homer, and Victor Robles had three hits and an RBI as Seattle (55-51) won its second straight and handed major league-worst Chicago its 13th consecutive loss, one short of the team record. The Mariners, who once led the division by 10 games, have just three wins in their last 11. All-Star Randy Arozarena made his Seattle debut, batting second and playing left field after being acquired from Tampa Bay on Thursday. He was 1 for 4.

7/18/24 MLB rumors: Mariners linked to potential blockbuster Rays trade. The Seattle Mariners have the chance to win the AL West for the first time since 2001. The Houston Astros are right on their tail and they will have to add some more talent in their lineup to support the incredible pitching staff. One source of help might be the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite a down year from Julio Rodriguez and the addition of Jorge Polanco not paying off that much, the M's are a winning team.

7/10/24 Seattle Mariners should target 2 types of hitters at trade deadline. How much longer does Mariners' Jorge Polanco have to turn around? Last year's National League Rookie of the Year, Arizona's Corbin Carroll, has seen his OPS drop from .868 to .613. Toronto's Bo Bichette has gone from .814 to .598. Journeyman Brent Rooker has a .902 OPS (nearly .100 points above his career norm) at the age of 29 for Oakland.

7/09/24 How much longer does Seattle Mariners' Polanco have to prove it?. In what has been a season filled with frustrating offensive performances for the Seattle Mariners, the continued struggles of key offseason addition Jorge Polanco is at, or certainly near, the top of the list. After several years as a quality hitter with the Minnesota Twins – which included posting a wRC+ of 111 or higher in five of the past six seasons before coming to Seattle – Polanco's performance has cratered to an unrecognizable level. Seattle Sports' Dave Wyman and Mike Lefko discussed that Monday on Wyman and Bob.

6/07/24 What will make an uncomfortable Seattle Mariners trade worth it?. What would you give up to bring in offensive help for the Seattle Mariners? It's not clear how many bats the Mariners will be able to add at the deadline, nor whether or not they'll be buyers at all. You'd be safe to assume as much following chairman John Stanton's vote of support for the front office in a recent interview with the Seattle Times. Julio Rodríguez can be a superstar, new additions Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver are both striking out more than would be expected, Cal Raleigh has led all catchers in home runs in each of the last two seasons, and Mitch Haniger has been an All-Star.

5/27/24 Mariners place Jorge Polanco on 10-day injured list due to troublesome hamstring. The Seattle Mariners placed second baseman Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list on Monday after a recurrence of tightness in his right hamstring. Polanco missed seven games earlier this month due to tightness in the hamstring. Seattle general manager Justin Hollander said in hindsight the team should have put Polanco on the injured list after the first occurrence.

5/26/24 Here's the Latest on Mariners' 2B Jorge Polanco. After leaving Sunday's game vs. the Washington Nationals with a hamstring injury, Seattle Mariners' second baseman Jorge Polanco is headed for an MRI on Monday. Servais said Polanco would have a MRI tomorrow. This is the continuation of an issue for Polanco, who missed more than a week recently with the same injury. While nothing is officially known yet, it seems entirely plausible that Polanco lands on the injured list, or at least misses significant time in this upcoming series.

5/23/24 What should we make of 3 struggling Seattle Mariners additions?. One look at the Seattle Mariners' offensive numbers, especially without the context of the team's superb pitching, would make many wonder how the M's could be 27-24 two months into the season, ahead of the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West. One of the major contributors to the lack of offensive production has been the struggles of a trio of veteran offseason acquisitions – second baseman Jorge Polanco, outfielder Mitch Haniger and designated hitter Mitch Garver – that the team is relying upon to bolster its offense. Of those players, only Haniger (.214) is hitting above the Mendoza Line. Mike Salk asked ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan if Seattle's struggling additions have reached that point during Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk on Tuesday.

5/19/24 Mariners notebook: Polanco tests hamstring; Crawford nearing return. The Mariners infield could return to full strength this week. Out of the lineup for a fifth consecutive game, Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco tested his sore right hamstring on Sunday afternoon at Camden Yards, going through some explosive running drills with team strength coaches and trainers. Servais would like to have Polanco's bat in the lineup at Yankee Stadium when the Mariners open a four-game series against the Yankees on Monday.

5/18/24 Mariners Now Seem Hopeful that Jorge Polanco Will Avoid Injured List. After leaving Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals early because of a hamstring issue, Seattle Mariners' infielder Jorge Polanco is still bothered by the injury, although the team is hopeful he can avoid an injured list stint. Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is doing a little better today and Servais is hopeful Polanco can avoid an IL stint. Hopeful is not definite, but this is a better outlook than we had on Friday. It still doesn't seem likely that Polanco will play in this weekend series against the Orioles, which means the M's will have to play a very good team with a very thin bench.

5/17/24 Seattle Mariners: What we've learned a quarter through season. There are still plenty of unanswered questions for this 24-20 team – a natural byproduct of a 162-game season – but we've learned three important things over the first 44 games for the current American League West leaders. The club moved on from two of its 2023 strikeout leaders – Eugenio Suárez and Teoscar Hernández – and added Jorge Polanco, who hasn't had as much swing-and-miss in his career.

5/14/24 Seattle Mariners' Jorge Polanco Dealing with Hamstring Injury. Seattle Mariners' second baseman Jorge Polanco is dealing with a right hamstring issue that caused him to leave Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals early. Injury update: Jorge Polanco left tonight's game with right hamstring tightness. After the game, which the M's won, 6-2, manager Scott Servais said that Polanco approached him and said he didn't want to do anything that would cause further harm. Servais told the media that Polanco will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, but it wouldn't be a shock to see Luis Urias in the lineup in his place.

5/09/24 Why Seattle Mariners should keep Josh Rojas in leadoff spot. For as much as the Seattle Mariners have struggled offensively this season, there's been one consistently shining bright spot in their lineup. It hasn't been star center fielder Julio Rodríguez or key offseason acquisitions Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver. Cal Raleigh has had some huge moments, but even he has been stuck in neutral at times at the plate. The offensive star for the Mariners early on is third baseman Josh Rojas, who leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
