8/26/24 Padres' acquire 2023 All-Star amid NL West chase of Dodgers. The San Diego Padres are chasing down the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West crown. Catcher Elias Diaz is making his way from the Colorado Rockies to the Padres, according to Rafael Petit of Petit Sports. The minor league contract brings a new catcher into the Padres organization who is having a solid season. Diaz is hitting .270 in 84 games with the Rockies this season.

8/21/24 San Francisco Giants Reportedly Interested in Past All-Star Game MVP. When the San Francisco Giants didn't become sellers at the trade deadline, it was clear the organization was pushing all their chips into the center of the table with the aim of getting into the playoffs. There's still time for the Giants to put together a streak, but that has been what everyone surrounding this team has been waiting for throughout the entire season. As they continue to search for ways to string together wins, they could be interested in adding catcher Elias Diaz per Susan Slasser of The San Francisco Chronicle. "For just the major-league minimum, San Francisco could add Diaz, 33, in time to be eligible for any playoff roster, and the timing means they could hang onto backup Curt Casali, too: rosters expand Sept. 1 and the Giants are thin in upper-level catching depth," she writes.

8/16/24 Padres pregame: Ha-Seong Kim back in lineup, Rockies make moves. Rockies release former All-Star Game MVP Elias Diaz as they call up prospect Drew Romo

8/15/24 Cleveland Guardians Could Add This All-Star Catcher For Playoff Run. The Colorado Rockies have surprisingly waived catcher Elias Diaz, opening the door for a contending team like the Cleveland Guardians to bring him aboard. The fact that the Rockies were unable to trade Diaz at the deadline is certainly surprising, given that he is one season removed from making an All-Star appearance. Regardless, he is available now, and teams have until 1 p.m. ET on Friday to put in a claim on Diaz before he becomes a free agent. The Guardians could certainly use a player like Diaz behind the plate.

8/08/24 Rockies Mailbag: Did Colorado whiff at trade deadline? What's happened to Zac Veen?. Pose a Rockies- or MLB-related question for the Rockies Mailbag. Another deadline has passed while we sit and watch the Rockies do nothing to better themselves. Why weren't Elias Diaz, Cal Quantrill, Brendan Rodgers or Austin Gomber shipped elsewhere for future assets?

7/28/24 Padres Could Trade for All-Star From NL West Rival: Report. The San Diego Padres could possibly be in the market for a catcher before Tuesday's trade deadline. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Elias Diaz is a possible fit. Diaz, a 2023 All-Star catcher with the Colorado Rockies, could be a fit but will be a free agent at season's end. It would also be dreadful for the Rockies to make a deal within the division involving last year's All-Star Game MVP.

7/24/24 The Rockies should consider trading Charlie Blackmon. Strike 2: Who among the Colorado Rockies players is tradeable at this point in the season? The MLB trade deadline is next week, and if the Rockies reconstruction project is going to continue to move forward, making a move at the break in an attempt to acquire more young pitching is a must. It's no secret that former All-Star Game MVP Elias Diaz is the most tradeable commodity wearing purple pinstripes these days. For the first time maybe ever in their history, Colorado has catching prospects in Drew Romo and Willie MacIver nearly ready in Triple-A. They also have young slugger Hunter Goodman already on the roster behind the plate.

6/07/24 Best Elias Diaz trade destinations amid Rockies' awful season. The MLB trade deadline isn't until July 30th, but the landscape of buyers and sellers is taking shape. If the Colorado Rockies were to make trades, it would likely come in the form of he latter. The Rockies would be better served dishing off their better players for picks or prospects. One of those players would be catcher Elias Diaz, who Colorado could trade to a team like the Chicago Cubs or San Diego Padres.

Montas took his no-no into the seventh before Colorado catcher Elias Diaz led off with a line-drive double to left-center. “He did a really good job mixing (pitches) and staying out of the heart of the plate,” Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon said.
