9/19/24 San Francisco Giants 2024 offseason preview: What's next for the Giants after another .500-ish season?. Matt Chapman's extension is a start, but this team will need to shake some things up if it wants to get back to contending.

9/17/24 Could San Francisco Giants Finally Move on From Zaidi After Recent Negotiations?. The San Francisco Giants have a big decision to make, and they don't have much time. Is it time to move on from President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi? It isn't a new thought that the top executive in the Giants front office is on the hot seat. Although the initial expectation that the Giants would remain with the same people in charge after making an aggressive contract extension with third baseman Matt Chapman, recent reports of how the deal got finalized is beginning to raise questions on who is actually in control in the front office.

9/17/24 San Francisco Giants are Focusing on a Key Detail Late in the Season. In what's been a frustrating season for the San Francisco Giants, both offensively and from an injury standpoint, there has been one thing bugging Bob Melvin: fundamentals on defense. The Giants brought in Matt Chapman to be the anchor at third and Jung Hoo Lee to do the same in centerfield. Lee has been out for the majority of the season, which is what began the trend of San Francisco having players out of position. One player emblematic of this is Marco Luciano.

9/15/24 Report: Posey took over Giants' Chapman contract talks. Giants fans and the organization alike celebrated earlier this month when Matt Chapman signed a six-year, $151 million contract extension that will keep him with San Francisco through the 2030 MLB season. As one of the brightest spots in a otherwise subpar 2024 season for the team, securing the Gold Glove third baseman long-term ahead of his chance to opt out later this year certainly was important to the fan base -- and the Giants' executive board, led by former catcher Buster Posey.

9/13/24 SF Giants' Farhan Zaidi explains how past offseasons will inform their actions this winter. Unlike recent winters, the Giants don't plan to sit around and wait this offseason. “One of our goals is going to be to be very aggressive timing wise and try to get things done early,” team president Farhan Zaidi said Thursday in his latest appearance on the club's flagship radio network, KNBR. With 15 games to go and the Giants three games under .500 entering Friday's series opener against the Padres, Zaidi confirmed the team has shifted its focus to 2025 and is already putting plans in place for how to augment a roster that didn't perform up to expectations in the first season under manager Bob Melvin. One box on their offseason to-do list was checked off last week, when they agreed to terms on a six-year, $151 million extension with third baseman Matt Chapman.

9/12/24 San Francisco Giants Slugger Went From Questionable Signing to Team MVP. The San Francisco Giants made a couple of signings this past offseason that got off to a bad start, but have turned out to be pretty good once they settled in. As Tim Britton of The Athletic searched for which Giants player has been the team's MVP this year, one of those new players was his selection. Matt Chapman has been red-hot for the past few months and has become a key cog in the future for San Francisco.

9/09/24 San Francisco Giants Remain Unchanged in MLB Power Rankings. The San Francisco Giants were able to play a bit of spoiler over the weekend, as they defeated the San Diego Padres in their series by winning two out of three games. The Giants have been struggling a bit of late prior to the nice series win against a division rival, as the National League West has been extremely competitive this season. For San Francisco, they have their eye on next season at this point, despite hovering around the .500 mark, the Giants won't be making the playoffs this season. This week was a busy one for San Francisco, as they were able to lock up one of their key players long-term in Matt Chapman.
