9/05/24 Luis Urías homers and knocks in 4 as Mariners rout Athletics 16-3. Mitch Garver and Luis Urías both drove in four runs, George Kirby struck out nine in six innings and the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 16-3 on Wednesday night. Seattle, which entered the day 5 1/2 games back of the last AL wild card spot, recorded a season high in runs and snapped a four-game losing streak to get back to .500 at 70-70. The Mariners scored seven times in the seventh inning to pull away, sending 12 batters to the plate. “Just a bust-out game for everybody,” Seattle manager Dan Wilson said.

8/01/24 Mariners' Mitch Garver reveals death threats, NSFW messages. The Seattle Mariners have the second-worst record in baseball since June 19. The Mariners are looking to power out of their struggles with big trade deadline additions. Catcher Mitch Garver revealed the threats he has received during the season in an emotional interview with Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times. Garver is in his first season with the Mariners and holds a .168 batting average in 89 games.

7/31/24 Mitch Garver feels fans’ frustrations as Mariners fall to Red Sox. Instead of coming home with a little momentum, the Mariners watched as the Red Sox celebrated Rafael Devers’ walkoff single off the Green Monster for a 3-2 win in 10 innings.

7/20/24 Seattle Mariners catcher Mitch Garver donates to Spokane youth baseball team. A major league baseball player stepped up in a big way for a Spokane little league team. Mariners catcher Mitch Garver donated $15,000 to send the Spokane Dirtags to the West Zone Regional in California. Garver played baseball with some of the coaches back in New Mexico. "It was a team that had an opportunity to do something but didn't have the means to do it," Garver said.

7/06/24 With elite pitching, it's time Mariners find reinforcements for offense. When it was 2-0 Blue Jays? To the Mariners' credit, they posted four runs in the final two innings in their 5-4 loss to Toronto, but this is an offense that seems perpetually stuck in sleep mode. The M's are last in MLB in batting average at .216. The offseason-acquisition trio of Mitch Garver, Mitch Haniger and Jorge Polanco had a combined WAR of -1 heading into Saturday (although Haniger did deliver a three-run homer in the eighth).

7/04/24 Julio Rodriguez homers, Mariners snap four-game losing streak. Mitch Garver and Julio Rodriguez each went deep as the Mariners snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Orioles.

7/02/24 With Mitch Garver out, Mariners bring back catcher Seby Zavala. With Mitch Garver's right wrist still sore from taking a 93-mph fastball from Joe Ryan off it in Sunday's loss to the Twins, the Mariners were forced to temporarily suspend their experiment of having their primary designated hitter serve as the backup catcher. Prior to Tuesday's series opener vs. the Orioles, the Mariners selected the minor-league contract of catcher Seby Zavala and put him on the active roster. Left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Diaz was optioned to Tacoma to make room for Zavala. Garver played catch before the game and also planned to test out the wrist in the batting cages, hitting off a tee and doing soft toss.

6/30/24 Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo forced to bat after injury to Mitch Garver. When Mariners catcher Mitch Garver left Sunday's game with an injury, pitcher Luis Castillo was forced to step to the plate for the first time since 2021.

6/19/24 Has catching helped Seattle Mariners' Garver hit? Pierzynski's take. When the Seattle Mariners signed Mitch Garver to a two-year contract this offseason, the idea was that he'd be ditching the catcher's gear to serve as the team's primary designated hitter. Garver was primarily a catcher over his previous seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers, but had been hampered by a slew of injuries. By slotting him as the primary DH, the hope was it would help the 33-year-old veteran stay healthy.

6/15/24 Mariners aim to put 'points on the board' in rematch vs. Rangers. A look at the Seattle Mariners' lineup in Friday night's 3-2 win over the visiting Texas Rangers doesn't exactly reveal the return of Murderers' Row. The Mariners are 28th in the majors in batting average (.221), tied for 25th in on-base percentage (.299), and 24th in runs (276). Seattle will look to squeeze out enough runs on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game series vs. Texas. "We play a lot of close games," designated hitter Mitch Garver said of the Mariners, who are 17-7 in one-run games this season and have won five of their past six games overall.

6/14/24 Mitch Garver's homer helps Mariners edge past Rangers. Mitch Garver slugged a two-run homer Friday night and Luis Castillo worked six solid innings as the Seattle Mariners edged the visiting Texas Rangers 3-2. Castillo (6-7) gave up four hits and two runs while walking one and striking out seven. After permitting three hits and both runs in the first inning, he stifled Texas over the next five innings.

6/12/24 Servais: Mitch Garver will be 'key' to Seattle Mariners lineup. It was a slog through much of the season's first two months, but the Seattle Mariners are starting to get a glimpse of the version of Mitch Garver they envisioned. After a struggles in April and much of May, Garver has started to turn a corner in June. “Tip my hat to Mitch Garver,” manager Scott Servais said after Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox. “Great swing on the ball tonight,” Servais said.

6/02/24 Luis Castillo shines as the Mariners continue to roll at home, sweeping the Angels with 5-1 win. Luis Castillo threw seven shutout innings, Mitch Garver hit a three-run double and the Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-1 for a sweep of their weekend series. Castillo was brilliant in his first win since May 12. The right-hander struck out six and walked three — all on 3-2 pitches. Castillo surrendered two hits on Taylor Ward’s double in the first and Kyren Paris’ broken-bat single in the third. It was his third occasion this season when he threw at least seven shutout innings while allowing three hits or less. The Mariners also improved to 21-11 at home, tied for the second-best home mark through 32 games in franchise history.

5/29/24 Seattle Mariners Make Radical Lineup Change Ahead of Wednesday Game. The Seattle Mariners are making a drastic lineup switch on Wednesday night before Game 3 of their series with the Houston Astros. For the first time this season, Mitch Garver will be catching. Servais said they approached Garver about getting behind the plate a week ago.

5/17/24 Big First Inning Dooms Mariners in Series Opener vs. Orioles. The Seattle Mariners were blown out in Game 1 of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night, 9-2, at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The loss, which kicked off a 10-game road trip through the East Coast, dropped Seattle to 24-21 on the year. The M's remain in first place in the American League West. The M's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Mitch Garver but couldn't make the lead hold up, surrendering five runs in the bottom of the first inning.

5/12/24 Mariners use homers from Julio Rodríguez and Mitch Garver to top A's 8-4.

5/12/24 Here's a Little Optimism For Seattle Mariners' Star Julio Rodriguez. The Seattle Mariners are 21-19 on the season, which seems like a small miracle considering how inept the team has been offensively. Seattle, who stated they wanted to strike out less in 2024, leads baseball in strikeouts and is getting next to nothing from its main offensive sources like Mitch Garver, Jorge Polanco and Julio Rodriguez. Yes, Rodriguez, the same one that is a two-time All-Star and one of the best young players in the league, has gotten out to a dreadful start.

5/09/24 Even after 'the ultimate flush-it game,' Mariners' offensive issues linger. Play-by-play man Aaron Goldsmith dubbed it “the ultimate flush-it game.” Which is an apropos descriptor for the Mariners' morose matinee, an 11-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field Thursday. The thud snapped Seattle's streak of six consecutive series wins, as the Mariners dropped three of four to a stampeding Twins team that has won 15 of its last 17 games. This was a comprehensively dispiriting dud — complete with 15 Mariner strikeouts; a five-run Twins first inning against stalwart starter Logan Gilbert; six scattered Mariner hits; two errors; and a Mitch Garver liner that ricocheted off the glove of third baseman Jose Miranda, turned right and fell flukily into shortstop Willi Castro's waiting mitt.

5/07/24 Woods Richardson strikes out 8 and allows 1 hit in 6 shutout innings as Twins beat Mariners 3-1. Simeon Woods Richardson struck out a career-high eight in six shutout innings of one-hit ball, and the Minnesota Twins scored twice in the seventh to beat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 on Monday night in the opener of their four-game series. Minnesota rebounded quickly after its 12-game winning streak was snapped Sunday with a 9-2 loss to Boston. Woods Richardson issued just one walk. The only hit he permitted was a leadoff single by Mitch Garver in the third.
