8/23/24	Giants' bullpen falters again in disastrous eighth inning vs. Mariners. The Giants can expect their bullpen to be heavily scrutinized over the final five weeks of the season, especially after Friday's painful implosion in Seattle. Tyler Rogers, who has pitched in more games than any other MLB reliever this season, suffered through an inexplicable, brutal and rare (for him) eighth inning that opened the door for the Mariners' comeback 6-5 win on Friday at T-Mobile Park. Prior to that, the 33-year-old reliever had been one of San Francisco's safest and most reliable go-to guys out of the bullpen. The San Francisco Giants are starting to show signs of regression once again which would lead them to start selling players off rather than buying more at the MLB's upcoming trade deadline. As Aaron Gleeman and Eno Sarris of The Athletic surveyed the trade market to find which players are most likely to be moved, San Francisco reliever Tyler Rogers was one of the top players in his position group. The San Francisco Giants have won two straight, a promising sign as they get into the second half of the season. While the Giants season hasn't gone as planned, there's hope that this veteran-led ball club can figure it out and make the postseason. In the event that they don't figure it out, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see them move some pieces that could bring back a decent return. New York had blown leads from the sixth inning on in its previous three games and had scored three runs in 18 innings before overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the ninth against Tyler Rogers (0-1). San Francisco, which had won four straight, dropped back to .500 at 27-27. The Giants went 4-2 on a road trip in which the winning team trailed in the eighth inning or later in every game. In terms of Fangraphs quality of contact, his 27.6% Soft% was 0.1% behind San Diego's Tom Cosgrove to lead all of Major League Baseball.
