9/17/24 Cascade's Rea steps up for tired Brewers bullpen. Colin Rea skipped his usual side throwing session between starts just in case the Milwaukee Brewers' taxed bullpen needed a couple of innings out of him. It paid off Monday night. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-hander from Cascade, Iowa, earned the first save of his 14-year professional career with 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball to close a 6-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Milwaukee. The Brewers lowered their magic number to two in the quest for a third National League Central Division title in four years.

9/12/24 SF Giants' Encarnacion flashes big power while achieving rare feat with HR vs. Brewers. The slider from Colin Rea broke away from Encarnacion in the right-handed batter's box, and he went with the pitch, put a big swing on it and extended the Giants' early lead in their eventual 13-2 romp over the Brewers with their first of three home runs. Barely clearing the 25-foot brick wall in right field, Encarnacion became the first right-handed batter to homer the opposite way at Oracle Park this season. It's been done only 75 times since the waterfront ballpark opened in 2000, not since J.D. Davis did it last May, also against the Brewers. “It was carrying a little bit out there today, but it's tough to go oppo here, especially at night,” manager Bob Melvin said.

9/11/24 Ramos, SF Giants go outside-the-box in romp over Brewers. On their way to a 13-2 romp Wednesday over the Milwaukee Brewers, the Giants ventured outside their comfort zone a couple times. Not only did they jump out to an early lead against Brewers starter Colin Rea, they did so with the help of some aggressive base running. The home runs that followed may get the headlines, but it was Heliot Ramos' steal of second base that started it all. After the 25-year-old outfielder drew a walk to give the Giants runners at the corners with one out in the first, they sent him in motion, which set in motion their first two runs.

9/11/24 Starters hope for bigger workload as Brewers visit Giants. Colin Rea and Blake Snell should be well rested when they go head-to-head Wednesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants continue their three-game series. The Brewers (83-61) got a jump on the hosts with a 3-2 victory in Tuesday's series opener, a game in which Aaron Civale and three relievers combined on a four-hitter. The Brewers have taken three of four meetings with the Giants (71-74) this season. San Francisco won the opener in Milwaukee last month before the Brewers grabbed the next two.

8/31/24 After DH sweep of Reds, Brewers continue march toward Central title. The Milwaukee Brewers will continue their grind toward a second straight National League Central title and their third in four seasons when they visit the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night in the third game of a four-game series. On Friday, the Brewers battled through 90-degree, humid conditions in a day-night doubleheader, coming through with a 5-4, 10-inning win in the first game, using five relievers following starter Colin Rea. Bryan Hudson, Joel Payamps, Jared Koenig and Trevor Megill each posted scoreless innings before Devin Williams entered the game in the 10th and kept the free runner from scoring to seal the win and his seventh save in eight chances since returning from a stress fracture in his back.
