9/17/24	Mariners' Robles exits with right hand contusion. Victor Robles is well known for being aggressive on the bases. Robles was thrown out trying to steal home with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the first inning on Tuesday night as his Seattle Mariners took on the New York Yankees. What made the decision more egregious was Justin Turner was at the plate with a 3-0 count against Yankees starter Luis Gil when Robles made his failed dash to try and get Seattle on the board. Victor Robles and Julio Rodríguez each hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning as the Seattle Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2. Randy Arozarena went deep against his former team again and Luis Castillo pitched 5 2/3 solid innings to help the Mariners win two of three in the series. Seattle stayed 3 1/2 games back of first-place Houston in the AL West. Mariners outfielders Victor Robles, Luke Raley and Julio Rodriguez have all dealt with some kind of ailment that's either restricted their playing time or kept them out of games entirely over the last week. Relievers Gregory Santos and Yimi Garcia are both on the injured list and shortstop JP Crawford is just starting to make his way back from a broken pinky that's kept him out of action for over a month. The Mariners attempted to salvage their season by firing long-time manager Scott Servais and replacing him with former player Dan Wilson on Friday. In the first inning of the Wilson era, Seattle lost outfielder Victor Robles to a finger injury. Robles was hit with a 95 mph fastball from San Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell while attempting to bunt in the bottom of the first inning Saturday. Victor Robles can earn up to $22.25 million over three seasons under his new contract with the Seattle Mariners, which guarantees a total of $9.75 million for 2025 and '26. Robles get a $1.25 million signing bonus as part of the deal announced Monday and salaries of $3.5 million in 2025 and $4.5 million in 2026. The 27-year-old outfielder can earn $1 million each year in performance bonuses for plate appearances: $500,000 each for 500 and 600.
