9/10/24 The National Media is Beginning To Pile on the Padres' Bandwagon. It took them a while to come around, but baseball pundits from outside the greater San Diego area are finally recognizing the Padres for what they are: the team no one wants to face in the postseason, assuming the team holds on to advance. After augmenting their bullpen with trade deadline acquisitions Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing from the Miami Marlins, and Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays, closer Robert Suarez has ample help every night.

9/07/24 Yankees tried to add lefty reliever in Jazz Chisholm trade package, per insider. The New York Yankees were heavily in the market for relief pitchers at the Major League Baseball trade deadline. While they wound up adding two bullpen arms just over a month ago before the deadline, the Yankees reportedly had their sights set on other arms across the league. It was reported that the Yankees tried to trade for Miami Marlins All-Star Tanner Scott before they learned they would have had to part ways with one of their top prospects. Scott wasn't the only Marlins reliever the Yankees tried to add, though. According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post , the Yankees also tried to add lefty A.J. Puk as a part of the trade package that included star Jazz Chisholm. Puk wound up going to

8/20/24 MLB Insider Ranks Philadelphia Phillies Reliever One of Top Closers in Free Agency. The Philadelphia Phillies traded for Carlos Estévez to bolster their bullpen. Entering the offseason, he should be among the top free agents on the market. MLB insider Jim Bowden, a former general manager who writes for The Athletic, recently ranked his Top 50 free agents going into the offseason and Estevez — who wasn't even with the Phillies a month ago — was ranked No. 22. San Diego closer Tanner Scott — himself trade from Miami at the deadline — was the only closer ranked ahead of him at No. 18.

8/10/24 Padres' Bullpen Goes From Worst in MLB to First. The Padres went into the trade deadline with a plan, and they executed. San Diego acquired three relief pitchers on July 30 that have turned the Padres' bullpen into the best in the Major Leagues. “With its eight scoreless innings, the Padres bullpen lowered its ERA over its past 13 games to 2.05 (12 earned runs in 52? innings). That is the lowest in the Major Leagues in a span that began July 20. Padres relievers' collective ERA in the eight games before this stretch was an MLB-high 8.88 (24 ER in 24? innings),” wrote Kevin Acee of The San Diego Tribune . The addition of Marlins' southpaw Tanner Scott and right-handed reliever Bryan Hoeing alongside Rays' right-hander Jason Adam at the deadline

8/09/24 Padres' Mike Shildt Had to Remove a Pitcher For the Silliest Reason Ever. It didn't make much sense when San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt turned to left-hander Tanner Scott to face left-handed hitter Oneil Cruz with the bases loaded and two down and the game tied in the ninth inning. It was home plate umpire Andy Fletcher's. Fletcher ruled that Shildt had visited Suarez during the wait while umpires discussed an automatic ball call.

8/06/24 Padres Reliever Reacted To Teams' Big Deadline Trade by Talking About Video Games. In a last-minute deal at the trade deadline, the Padres acquired two Marlin pitchers, Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing. The pair was traded in exchange for a quartet of Padres: right-handed pitcher Adam Mazur, second baseman Jay Beshears, left-handed pitcher Robby Snelling, and third baseman Graham Pauley. One Padres reliever, Jeremiah Estrada, was already familiar with his new teammate before he was traded to San Diego.

8/02/24 Insider Reveals Why Mets Didn't Land One of These Top Trade Targets. The New York Mets had a plan and they stuck to it, resulting in a solid but far from flashy trade deadline. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Mets did in fact check on star relievers such as Tanner Scott, Carlos Estevez, Kyle Finnegan and Pete Fairbanks, among others.

8/01/24 Mets' top prospects were off the table at trade deadline. The Mets checked on big relief stars Tanner Scott, Carlos Estevez, Pete Fairbanks, Kyle Finnegan and others but understandably didn't want to mortgage the future while barely in wild-card position. The Mets made sure to keep top prospects Jett Williams, Drew Gilbert, Ryan Clifford, Luisangel Acuna, Blake Tidwell, Brandon Sproat and others. The 100 mph Sproat is a late call-up candidate, especially if the bullpen remains an issue. The Mets fielded significant interest in Brett Baty, but with his improved defense and .897 Triple-A OPS, they still like him. Jett Williams wasn't going to be moved by the Mets at the trade deadline. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST With the Mets making clear early they

7/31/24 Padres Acquire 13-Year Veteran Pitcher from Pirates. The San Diego Padres acquired veteran pitcher Martin Pérez from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Ronaldys Jimenez prior to the MLB trade deadline. The Pirates will pay half of Pérez's remaining salary, about $1.3 million, per Dejan Kovacevic. The move capped off a busy trade deadline for the Padres, who also traded for Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing in exchange for left-hander Robby Snelling, right-hander Adam Mazur, and infielders Graham Pauley and Jay Beshears on Tuesday.

7/31/24 Why Padres will regret making Tanner Scott trade. The San Diego Padres landed lefty closer Tanner Scott at the MLB trade deadline. The Padres continued to bulk up to contend for the National League Wild Card. Adding one of the best relievers in baseball will certainly bring them closer to their competition and increase their chances of making the playoffs. Scott was one of the many players the Miami Marlins traded away at the deadline and they got great value for him.

7/30/24 MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox Among Favorites To Land All-Star. The Red Sox potentially could make a big splash before the MLB trade deadline passes. Former big league general manager Jim Bowden shared some major news Sunday when he reported Boston was among the clubs pursuing Miami relief pitcher Tanner Scott. Bowden, who now contributes to The Athletic, issued a follow-up Monday when he claimed the Red Sox were one of the teams “leading the mix” to acquire the lights-out left-hander from the Marlins. It's worth noting Boston apparently is facing significant competition in its reported Scott pursuit.

7/28/24 MLB rumors: Marlins hold exorbitant Tanner Scott asking price at trade deadline. With Tanner Scott the top remaining relief pitcher on the trade market ahead of Tuesday's deadline, there should be a significant market for him as other relievers have gone for pricey returns, and the Miami Marlins reportedly are setting their sights high when it comes to him as well. The cost of relievers has been exceptionally high, and front office executives have voiced some displeasure for the asking prices for relievers generally. “It may take more than expected,” another league source said regarding relievers, according to The Athletic.

7/26/24 Tanner Scott Trade Rumors: Dodgers Remain Interested In Marlins' Closer. Tanner Scott is one of the best relievers in Major League Baseball, and the Miami Marlins are expected to trade him ahead of the July 30 deadline. With few sellers and many buyers on the market, seemingly all with pitching needs, Scott will be a popular name among teams in search of relief help. While it isn't a priority for the Los Angeles Dodgers to acquire a high-leverage bullpen option, it would still be beneficial for them.

7/25/24 Phillies Trade Rumors: Team Targets All-Star Closer, Not Outfielders. The Philadelphia Phillies are focusing on bolstering their bullpen with All-Star closer targets rather than pursuing top outfielders as the MLB trade deadline approaches. The Phillies are prioritizing bullpen upgrades, specifically targeting All-Star closer Tanner Scott and other top pitchers. Philadelphia shows no interest in top outfielders like Jazz Chisholm Jr., focusing instead on other key areas.
