8/18/24 Reds' Ty France Had His Flying Bat Land in Hilarious Spot After Striking Out. What Cincinnati lacked in offense Saturday it made up for in entertainment. by: Patrick Andres Posted: Aug 18, 2024 / 01:42 PM CDT Updated: Aug 18, 2024 / 01:42 PM CDT SHARE It's true that Cincinnati Reds designated hitter Ty France hasn't had the greatest year—slashing .229/.309/.372 for a career-low OPS of .682. However, it hasn't merited disposing of his bat the way he did against the Kansas City Royals Saturday—quite literally. With nobody out and the bases empty in the third inning of a game the Reds already trailed 10-0, France worked a 2-2 count against pitcher Michael Wacha. On the fifth pitch of the at-bat, France swung and missed and let go of his bat—which struck the top of the Royals'

7/21/24 Mariners place Ty France on outright waivers. Ty France's future with the Mariners is uncertain. On Sunday afternoon, just before they closed out a 6-4 victory over the Houston Astros to salvage a win in the three-game series, multiple Major League Baseball sources confirmed that the Mariners had placed first baseman Ty France on irrevocable outright waivers. Well, over the next 48 hours, every MLB team will have a chance to claim France and add them to their active 26-man roster. If Frances goes unclaimed, the Mariners could leave him on the active roster or they could designate him for assignment, removing him from the 40-man roster and outright him to Triple-A Tacoma as a minor league player.

6/19/24 A new dilemma the Seattle Mariners face after Ty France's return. The Seattle Mariners' lineup took a step closer to reaching full strength Tuesday with first baseman Ty France returning from the injured list. France's return came with an interesting roster decision, which came in the form of designating backup catcher Seby Zavala for assignment and keeping recently promoted prospect Tyler Locklear in the majors. As a result, Seattle now has two first basemen it's looking to get in the lineup at least semi-regularly. ROOT Sports color analyst Mike Blowers spoke about the situation during a wide-ranging Mariners discussion Tuesday with Seattle Sports' Wyman and Bob.
