Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon brought up the implementation of the NFL's new hip-drop tackle rule after he was injured in the team's 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The NFL and NFLPA made it a rule and an emphasis for a reason. Near the start of the third quarter, Mixon was tackled by Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards after catching a pass from C.J. Stroud. Edwards appeared to use the hip-drop tackle to bring down the running back, who was forced to briefly exit the game due to an ankle injury. Since making his NFL debut just a little over a year ago, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has drawn rave reviews from just about everyone in the media whose opinion is worth listening to. In a strange twist, you can also now follow Bill Belichick on “Instaface,” but that's another story. Last Sunday, the Texans faced a crucial 3rd and 11 late in the game as they attempted to lock up a 29-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts in an opening week AFC South showdown. In order to do so, the Texans called on their rookie quarterback to deliver as he had so many times during his rookie season, and naturally, Stroud didn't disappoint, delivering a dart into an impossibly tight window to receiver Nico Collins, who managed to snag the catch and get a knee down in bounds, all but sealing Houston's win. 9/13/24	Texans DeMeco Ryans, C.J. Stroud 'Cognizant' About Bears' Secondary. The Houston Texans began their 2024 campaign 1-0 after escaping Indianapolis with a 29-27 hard-fought victory. It wasn't the most pretty outing for the Texans, but the good news is there is room to improve and things to point to where they can get better. The defense is where the Texans saw the most of their struggles in Week 1, but the offense was humming along with newcomers Joe Mixon and Stefon Diggs having big debuts for their new squad after being traded for this offseason. The Texans offense was able to dismantle the defense of the Colts, but they will have a tougher matchup this week when they face off against a staunch Chicago Bears defense.
