9/17/24 Mets could target Guardians ace to bolster starting rotation for 2025. The New York Mets cut back on spending last offseason and instead decided to make more frugal moves. Perhaps New York could take a look at Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber. It's important to remember that Bieber is recovering from Tommy John surgery and will not be back immediately in 2025.

9/07/24 Injured ace expecting more than just a full recovery: Guardians takeaways. Shane Bieber has a lot on his plate these days. Baby Bieber should arrive some time in early February. The 29-year-old southern California native joined his teammates at Dodger Stadium during their three-game weekend series against Los Angeles and said one of the biggest silver linings to his injury is being able to share the experience of his wife's pregnancy and to be there for her, especially early on. “Just enjoying that time and really taking advantage of quality time and taking good care of both our bodies, getting plenty of rest,” Bieber said.

9/05/24 Milwaukee Brewers Urged To Try To Steal Cleveland Guardians Star. The Cleveland Guardians have a major situation brewing ahead of the upcoming MLB offseason. Shane Bieber is set to hit the open free agency market and teams are expected to try and steal him away. Bieber has been the ace of the Guardians' staff, but missed most of this season due to an injury that required Tommy John surgery. It seems likely that Cleveland will try to bring him back this offseason, but they have never been a team to spend huge amounts of money.

9/04/24 Cleveland Guardians' Star Pitcher Receives Concerning Take. The Cleveland Guardians' starting rotation has been one of the worst in baseball this year, and a big reason for that has been the absence of star pitcher Shane Bieber. Bieber made just two starts in 2024 before going down with an elbow injury that required the dreaded Tommy John surgery. As a result, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter has named Bieber the Guardians' worst bang-for-buck player in 2024.

8/30/24 Cleveland Guardians Must Target This Future Hall of Fame Pitcher. The Cleveland Guardians have experienced an awful collapse in recent weeks and are in danger of losing their lead in the American League Central division race. Obviously, the hope is that Shane Bieber is back and healthy. Keeping that in mind, Cleveland has never been a big spender in free agency. With the team being so close to World Series contention, the front office should consider changing that.

8/27/24 NL Central Contender Urged To Pursue Shane Bieber This Offseason. Shane Bieber had two stellar starts to open the 2024 season. Curt Bishop of The Sporting News believes that the Milwaukee Brewers should be one of the teams that pursue Bieber in free agency. "The team doesn't typically spend on big free agents, but a top pitcher might end up being within their price range," wrote Bishop.

8/26/24 Brewers Could Add Cy Young Winner, Two-Time All-Star To Rotation In Offseason. The Milwaukee Brewers may not have a legitimate ace this season, but the club could have one next year when a certain hurler hits free agency. The Brewers have the top spot in the National League Central despite their starting pitching woes but by this time next year, the rotation could look entirely different. With the offseason rapidly approaching, it may be time for the front office to start thinking of potential targets and the Cleveland Guardians have a pitcher hitting free agency this winter that would be a great addition in Milwaukee. "Shane Bieber underwent Tommy John surgery back in April and is not expected back on the mound until next summer," The Athletic's Jim Bowden wrote.

8/21/24 National League East Contender Urged To Sign Cleveland Guardians' Shane Bieber This Offseason. Shane Bieber has been the Cleveland Guardians' ace for the last five seasons, and he even won the 2020 Cy Young award in MLB's shortened season. The next few seasons were filled with inconsistencies due to injuries, and Bieber ended up getting Tommy John surgery after two phenomenal starts in 2024. This was always going to be a big year for Bieber, given that he's a free agent when the season is over, and there should be plenty of interest in the 29-year-old. The Atlanta Braves are one team being urged to sign the starting pitcher who is in his prime.

8/20/24 Cleveland Guardians Could Pursue This All-Star Pitcher, But There's a Catch. The Cleveland Guardians are in desperate need of starting pitching, and that is not going to change during the offseason. As a matter of fact, with injured ace Shane Bieber slated to hit free agency, the Guardians' need for more arms will only grow. Luckily, there will be plenty of hurlers to choose from over the winter, and one pitcher in particular may catch Cleveland's eye: Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi can become a free agent this offseason so long as he doesn't hit 156 innings on the year.

8/17/24 AL Central Rival Could Steal Cleveland Guardians Star. While the Cleveland Guardians have been arguably the best team in baseball this season, fans have to wonder what could have been. Shane Bieber, the team's ace starting pitcher, went down for the season after just two games. The presence of Bieber could have made the team even more dangerous. Bieber would have been the answer to those issues.

8/15/24 Cardinals could target Guardians ace to bolster rotation in 2025. The St. Louis Cardinals fell below the .500 mark for the first time since June 19 on Wednesday night when they were swept by the Cincinnati Reds. 2024 seems all but lost for St. Louis, as they now sit 8 1/2 games back in the National League Central and 4 1/2 games out of the third and final Wild Card spot. The Cardinals may soon have to turn their focus to 2025 and building the best possible team for the future. When the offseason comes around, they could start by pursuing Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber.

8/12/24 Cleveland Guardians Could Lose Top Pitcher To Dodgers In Free Agency. You may have forgotten about him given that he hasn't pitched since early April, but Shane Bieber is the Cleveland Guardians' best pitcher. As a matter of fact, in two 2024 starts before going down with an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery, Bieber went 2-0 without giving up a run in 12 innings. The problem is that Bieber will be a free agent at the end of the season, and the cost-conscious Guardians may not be able to retain him. As a matter of fact, Jim Bowden of The Athletic has already reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers could make a push for Bieber next winter.

7/14/24 Not a baseball fan yet? Here's why you should care about the Cleveland Guardians this season. Baseball's All-Star break usually is a midseason respite for teams to catch their breath. Fans went into the season on a typical Cleveland emotion: A plummeting low because the team's star pitcher, Shane Bieber, went on the injured list with a bad elbow.

6/28/24 Cleveland Guardians Named MLB's Biggest Surprise For 2024. The Cleveland Guardians entered Friday's action with a record of 51-28, representing the best mark in the American League. After all, last year, the Guardians won just 76 games, and their roster certainly didn't appear to be playoff-caliber heading into 2024. Plus, Cleveland lost its top starting pitcher, Shane Bieber, to Tommy John surgery back in early April. All of that, and yet, the Guardians own a very comfortable seven-game lead over the Minnesota Twins for first place in the AL Central.

6/25/24 MLB rumors: How Guardians are pivoting trade deadline strategy. The Cleveland Guardians continue to surprise the MLB world. In 2023, Cleveland stumbled to a mediocre campaign. In 2024, despite failing to make many notable additions and losing ace Shane Bieber to Tommy John surgery early in the season, the Guardians currently hold a 50-26 record which is good for an eight-game lead in the American League Central. Additionally, Cleveland has often relied upon reliable starting pitching to carry the team in recent years.

6/11/24 REPORT: Guardians Looking To Trade For Starting Pitcher, Corner Outfielder. The Cleveland Guardians have established themselves as a legit contender in the American League after 60 games into the season. “The Guardians are scouring both leagues for middle-of-the-rotation type starting pitcher and a corner outfield to lengthen their lineup with more pop,” wrote Bowden. The rotation was supposed to be a strength for the Guardians, but that has not gone as planned. Shane Bieber looked like a Cy Young contender through his first two starts before undergoing Tommy John surgery, Gavin Williams hasn't thrown a pitch yet this season due to an elbow injury, Triston McKenzie hasn't looked the same he missed the majority of last season, and Tanner Bibee and Logan Allen have taken slight steps back since their rookie season.

6/05/24 MLB rumors: Insider loves Bo Bichette-Guardians trade deadline fit. The Cleveland Guardians currently hold a five-game lead in the American League Central. Cleveland has been one of the best teams in baseball so far in 2024. The Guardians have held strong despite losing ace Shane Bieber to Tommy John surgery early in the season. Barring an immediate collapse the Guardians project to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline.

Bieber is on the Guardians' six-game road trip out West that began Friday with a weekend set against the Los Angeles Angels.
