9/18/24 Three things to know about Luis Arraez's strikeout free streak. For more than a month Luis Arraez simply refused to strike out. The prolific batsman went from August 11 to September 15 without ending up on the wrong end of a third strike. Once September rolled around people began to take notice of the run Arraez was on. In the second inning Houston starter Spencer Arrighetti got Arraez to miss on a curveball low and in.

9/15/24 Padres seek to sweep Giants as Luis Arraez closes in on franchise record. Luis Arraez will continue his pursuit of one of the legendary Tony Gwynn's team records when the San Diego Padres attempt to close a three-game sweep over the host San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon. Arraez had three- and two-hit games on the first two nights of the series, during which the Padres have out-hit the Giants 29-9 en route to 5-0 and 8-0 wins.

9/14/24 Fernando Tatis Jr. on a tear as Padres visit Giants. Fernando Tatis Jr. will continue the pursuit of his third consecutive 20-home run season when the San Diego Padres go for a second straight road win over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night. Tatis followed a game-opening single by Luis Arraez with his 17th homer in a three-run first inning against Giants All-Star Logan Webb in Friday's 5-0 win. The 25-year-old Tatis, who belted 22 homers as a rookie in 2019, has missed reaching the 20-homer mark just twice his career - during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, when he hit 17 in 59 games, and in 2022, when he sat out the entire season while injured and on suspension.

Nobody in the big leagues has an active hitting streak longer than Lawrence Butler's, and the Oakland Athletics slugger tacked another game onto his total on Thursday. MLB's next longest active hitting streak is 10 games, belonging to San Diego Padres designated hitter Luis Arraez.

9/08/24 San Diego Padres' Luis Arraez Avoids Striking Out to Keep Historic Streak Alive. For all the holes in Luis Arraez's game that his detractors love to pick out, his plate discipline remains unmatched. The San Diego Padres designated hitter went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Arraez did not strike out, extending a streak that has earned him a spot in the history books. Arraez has now gone 110 consecutive plate appearances without a strikeout.

8/29/24 Unlikely Padres Hitter Steals Home Plate. This year's San Diego Padres team has been good defensively, out of the bullpen and at the plate, but they haven't shown off any speed. The Padres got on the board early when three of the first four batters hit sharp ground balls that found their way through the middle of the infield. Hits from Luis Arraez, Jake Cronenworth, and Manny Machado put runners on the corners with just one out. Xander Bogaerts, the next man up, struck out on a full count while Machado broke for second base.

8/23/24 Joe Musgrove, Padres fire two-hit shutout vs. Mets. Luis Arraez and Kyle Higashioka homered Friday night while Joe Musgrove fanned nine in seven shutout innings as the San Diego Padres blanked the visiting New York Mets 7-0. Musgrove (4-4) allowed just one hit, Starling Marte's one-out double in the fifth, and issued no walks. Musgrove has allowed only one run in 15 2/3 innings since coming off the injured list earlier this month.

8/20/24 Padres' Luis Arraez Reflects on Trade: 'I Cried A Lot'. Luis Arráez reunited with his former team on Monday as the San Diego Padres earned a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. Arráez, who signed with the Twins as an international free agent out of Venezuela in 2013 at the age of 16, began his professional career in the Minnesota organization.

8/19/24 Former Twin Luis Arraez still helping team from afar. Luis Arraez freely admits that when he got the news that he was being traded in January 2023 away from the only organization he had ever known, it was an emotional moment for him. “I cried a lot,” Arraez said. Arraez has since been traded one more time, swapped by the Miami Marlins to the San Diego Padres this May. But while his Twins career, he said, feels like it was a while ago because of everything that has come after it, he still maintains contact with many of his former teammates and coaches, so much so that in June, in the midst of a hot streak, shortstop Carlos Correa credited Arraez for helping him out at the plate.

8/15/24 Will Marlins trade Cy Young winner this winter? Insider reveals team's 2025 plan. The Miami Marlins have become so accustomed to selling of late that it's sometimes hard to imagine any of their star players will stay put. Gone already are Luis Arraez, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Tanner Scott, Bryan De La Cruz, and Trevor Rogers. The Marlins appear to be looking several years into the future, acquiring a deluge of prospects at this season's trade deadline. When an organization operates the way the Marlins do, it's natural to ask questions about whether others will be traded, especially when it comes to Cy Young Award winners.

8/14/24 National Reporter Picks Surprise Padres Standout to Win Major Award. The San Diego Padres are slowly sneaking up on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. After sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, the Padres are 69-53, tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for second in the National League West. While many players have contributed to the Padres' recent success, including Luis Arraez and Jurickson Profar, a major contributor has been rookie Jackson Merrill.

8/10/24 Padres outlast Marlins for seventh straight win. Luis Arraez hit the go-ahead RBI groundout in the top of the 10th inning, and Tanner Scott earned the save in the bottom of the frame as the red-hot San Diego Padres defeated the host Miami Marlins 9-8 on Saturday. Both Arraez and Scott were traded by the Marlins to the Padres this year. Arraez went 2-for-6 with three RBIs.
