5/10/24 Lack of clutch hits and closing out innings dooms Red Sox in loss to Nationals. Houck looked set to sail at the outset. Keibert Ruiz initiated the second-inning rally off the Sox righthander by lining a full-count slider to right on the eighth pitch of his at-bat. An Eddie Rosario liner down the right-field line put runners on second and third. With Sox second baseman Vaughn Grissom stationed up the middle, both runners scored when Trey Lipscomb bounced a single through the wide-open right side of the infield, with Rosario narrowly beating a blistering throw to the plate from right fielder Tyler O'Neill.

12/21/23 Washington Nationals news & notes: Keibert Ruiz, CS% and more…. Keibert Ruiz, acquired by the Nationals in the Max Scherzer/Trea Turner trade with the Dodgers at the trade deadline in 2021, jumped at the opportunity to sign a long-term extension with Washington when the club made an offer last spring. “But we waited a little bit,” Ruiz laughed. Anointing him the No. 1 backstop in D.C. soon after he was acquired, the Nationals threw the young backstop right into the proverbial fire, bringing him back up to the majors just a month after the deadline. “We brought him up early in his career,” Nationals' GM and President of Baseball Ops Mike Rizzo told reporters in the press conference announcing the extension.

9/03/23 Prospect News: Dynasty Buys Between Now And Next Season. Nationals C Keibert Ruiz: I tried to trade for Ruiz in a two-catcher, 15-teamer where I’m in a tight race for the top, but I sort of didn’t try real hard because I’m solid at catcher, where I have Willson Contreras and Elias Diaz. Solid. Old. Streaky. Probably on the way down. Would’ve probably been smart to try harder.  Royals C Freddy Fermin: The Royals have made gestures toward trading Sal Perez this off-season to make room for Fermin, who’s been in the lineup most nights anyway with Perez covering first in lieu of Vinnie Pasquantino and Nick Pratto. The exposure and the grind have chipped away at his once-pristine stat line, but he’s still hitting .284 with a 112 wRC+. That’s a starter in most fantasy leagues.
