9/30/24 San Francisco Giants Young Pitcher Ends Season on Historic High Note. One of the biggest shortcomings for the San Francisco Giants in the 2024 season was their starting rotation. Ace Logan Webb remains as reliable of a starter as there is in baseball, but his production slipped for a second straight season. Blake Snell was incredible, but only after a second stint on the injury list when his upswing began in July. Robbie Ray, who was acquired from the Seattle Mariners in the offseason, made only seven starts.

Logan Webb is a seasoned MLB veteran, but the All-Star pitcher still vividly remembers when a current Giants teammate gave him a "welcome to the big leagues" moment nearly a decade ago. During an exclusive interview with The Athletic's Andrew Baggarly, Webb revealed that San Francisco third baseman Matt Chapman doled out his first taste of MLB reality while pitching for the Giants' instructional team in Arizona during the fall of 2014.

9/02/24 San Francisco Giants Ace Takes Blame for Ugly Meltdown vs. Marlins. If the San Francisco Giants want to make a miraculous run in September and reach the playoffs, they can't afford many more losses like the one they endured on Sunday. After splitting the first two games of their series against the Miami Marlins, the Giants desperately needed to win Sunday's finale. Not only were they at home against one of the worst teams in baseball, but they also had their ace, Logan Webb, on the mound. Unfortunately, Webb let his teammates down, blowing an early lead in San Francisco's 7-5 loss.

9/01/24 What we learned as Webb struggles in Giants' series loss to Marlins. On a beautiful summer afternoon at Oracle Park, the Giants (68-70) absorbed a body blow to their fading playoff hopes with a 7-5 loss to the Miami Marlins (51-86) on Sunday. Starting pitcher Logan Webb (L, 6 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 90 pitches) sputtered and was tagged for six runs after a strong beginning to his day. San Francisco's offense was OK but failed to take advantage when Marlins starting pitcher Darren McCaughan (ND, 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 2 K, 72 pitches) hit three of the Giants' first seven batters. One of the few highlights for San Francisco came when Mike Yastrzemski homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning.

8/29/24 SF Giants' rotation implodes along with playoff hopes on disappointing road trip. A month since Farhan Zaidi declared the Giants' rotation the best in baseball, those dreams have fizzled out along with their playoff hopes. In the ideal scenario, Logan Webb and Blake Snell would have given them a two-headed monster at the top, Robbie Ray would look more like the 2021 Cy Young winner than a grizzled veteran coming off major surgery, and their pair of promising rookies would continue to build on strong first impressions. On their most pivotal trip of the season, with their playoff hopes hanging in the balance, no San Francisco starter even threw a pitch in the sixth inning or later. Hayden Birdsong walked off the mound Thursday afternoon with an out left in the fourth inning, and by the time the frame was over the Giants were in a six-run hole.

Desperately needing a win against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night, they are sending one of their aces, Logan Webb, to the mound. Whenever the Giants have needed a big performance from Webb, he has provided it. Milwaukee is 75-55 on the season, 10 games clear of the Chicago Cubs.

8/21/24 Staring down NL's toughest schedule, SF Giants can't complete sweep of MLB's worst team. Logan Webb shoved, but that wasn't enough for the Giants to take care of business Wednesday afternoon against the lowly White Sox. The Giants' ace went eight innings, allowing two runs, but they weren't able to complete a three-game sweep of the majors' worst team. Webb departed after 93 pitches with the score tied at 2, but Erik Miller and Spencer Bivens combined to allow four runs in the ninth to send the Giants to a 6-2 loss.
