9/18/24 Austin Seibert goes from kicking at a pine tree to 7 for 7 in his first game with Washington. Austin Seibert does not even search out a football field with uprights to practice field goals anymore. Instead, he aims for a pine tree in a lot next to his house in Illinois. “I just tell myself to hit the tree,” Seibert said. It turned out to be tremendous preparation for his latest chance in the NFL.

8/23/22 Lions: 2 backups who can steal a first-string job ahead of 2022 NFL season. The Lions have struggled when it comes to kickers in recent years, but for 2022, it seems they have two solid players battling for the job. Both Austin Seibert and Riley Patterson spent time with Detroit last year. A PFWA All-Rookie Team member in 2019, Seibert has yet to achieve that level of success again.

8/20/22 Lions stock report: Tom Kennedy, John Cominsky gaining steam in race for roster spots. Joseph got off to a shaky start against the Colts, missing a third-down tackle that led to a drive-extending conversion. He also found himself out of position in coverage on multiple snaps, most notably on a 50-yard touchdown reception where he got his eyes caught in the backfield and lost his coverage assignment on the play. Treading water: Kicker Austin Seibert Seibert held serve in the battle to be Detroit's kicker, but he did nothing to extend his lead.

8/08/22 Observations: Austin Seibert banks in 63-yarder off crossbar, takes lead in Lions kicker battle. I thought they both did a good job, but I felt really good about Seibert,” Campbell said before practice on Monday. If you’re asking me today, he’s a tick better. I thought he did a hell of a job in there.

Through the first 10 days of training camp, Seibert has been quite consistent, making nearly all of his kicks in practice. On Saturday, Seibert even nailed a 62-yarder.

11/15/21 KEY QUESTIONS: What are the injury updates from Sunday's game?. Will the Lions bring in kickers to try out this week? Campbell confirmed the team will have kicker tryouts this week. Austin Seibert was placed on IR Saturday, and Ryan Santoso, who was promoted from the practice squad, missed an extra point and a potential game-winning 48-yard field goal in overtime that wasn't really close.

10/27/21 Despite missing time on COVID-19 list, Seibert has been steady for Lions. Kicker Austin Seibert has been terrific for the Detroit Lions to begin the season. He's 10-for-11 on his field-goal attempts and a perfect 5-for-5 kicking extra points. As it turns out, his wife Valerie gets a big assist for her husband's great start.

10/25/21 Chirco: No Hollywood ending for Jared Goff and 0-7 Detroit Lions. It led to a 37-yard field goal from Austin Seibert, which put the Lions ahead, 10-0, with 7:28 to play in the first quarter. Detroit special teams coordinator Dave Fipp wasn’t done dialing up the trick plays just yet, either. The next one came with 10:02 to play in the third quarter.

9/03/21 Will Austin Seibert make it through the year?. He spent most of last season with the Bengals before being waived. As the only kicker on the roster, Seibert will have the starting job to begin the year. While the Lions offense is not expected to score a ton, it might find itself in field goal range more often than in the end zone, so this is not exactly a passive role.
