8/20/24 BenFred: When will Cardinals get serious about investigating the ex-Cards bump?. This time it's Dylan Carlson, who has averaged .293 with a .383 on-base percentage and a .537 slugging percentage for the Rays since the stalled former first-round pick was swapped to Tampa for reliever Shawn Armstrong. One of his 12 hits in 41 at-bats was of the walk-off variety, hit in the 12th inning on Sunday to secure a sweep of the Diamondbacks, right around the time Nolan Arenado was grounding into a double play to secure a series loss to the Dodgers.

8/16/24 Rays Rally To Take Opener From Diamondbacks. The Tampa Bay Rays (60-61) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (69-54) 5-4 on Friday night at Tropicana Field. With the win, the Rays snap a three-game losing skid. Arizona scored two unearned runs in the first to take an early lead. The Rays were able to rally in this one, and it began in the fifth inning when Dylan Carlson hit a solo homer to make it 2-1. Then the Rays rallied with a three-run eighth to take a 4-2 lead - the key moment was when Josh Lowe hit a two-run flair single to give Tampa Bay their first lead of the game. The Diamondbacks were not done, as the Diamondbacks were able to get to Rays closer Pete Fairbanks for his third blown save of the season. It was Corbin Carroll coming

8/08/24 Rays Salvage Finale From Cardinals. The Tampa Bay Rays (58-56) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (59-57) 6-4 on Thursday night to avoid being swept in the three game interleague series in St. Louis. Recently acquired from the Cardinals, Dylan Carlson hit a two-run single in the first to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. After St. Louis answered with three in the bottom of the frame, they added another in the third to take a 4-2 lead.

8/06/24 Tipsheet: Tampa Bay Rays churn roster, again, yet they remain in chase. No major league team churns its roster more frequently or effectively than the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have sustained their small-market success despite losing one stalwart executive after another to rival franchises. Cardinals fans will get a closer look at their resourceful operation this week when the Rays come to town for a three-game series. Ahead of this deadline they made wholesale moves, including giving star-crossed outfielder Dylan Carlson his much-needed fresh start in a trade with the Cardinals.

8/04/24 Alec Burleson Has Emerged As A Keeper For The St. Louis Cardinals. The St. Louis Cardinals' recent record of developing outfield prospects at the major league level has been mixed, to say the least. Dylan Carlson was a sure thing, but after a few years of uneven performance, he was sent packing to the Tampa Bay Rays at the recent trading deadline. Tyler O'Neill had one massive season in St. Louis, suffered through some nagging injuries before being dispatched to the Red Sox, where he has regained his star form this season. Lars Nootbaar just can't stay healthy, and while he remains in the Cardinal outfield mix, he hasn't been able to take that next step.

8/03/24 Astros Take Opener From Rays. The Houston Astros (57-52) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (55-54) 3-2 on Friday night at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The Rays have now dropped two in a row after falling to the Marlins in that series finale on Wednesday. Dylan Carlson, who was acquired by the Rays from the Cardinals shortly before Tuesday's trade deadline, hit his first home run as a Ray in the first inning to give Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead. That would be the only offense the Rays got on the day, while the Astros rallied with two runs in the fourth and a run in the seventh to take the game 3-2. Shane Baz got the start and allowed just two earned runs on six hits in five and one-third innings of work while striking out five and walking

7/30/24 Cards send Carlson to Rays for righty Armstrong. The St. Louis Cardinals sent former top outfield prospect Dylan Carlson to the Tampa Bay Rays for right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong, the teams announced Tuesday. Carlson, 25, was a highly touted first-round draft pick by St. Louis in 2016, but his numbers have declined since he batted a career-best .266 with 18 home runs over 149 games in 2021. After missing the start of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury, Carlson was batting just .198 with no home runs and 11 RBIs in 59 games.

7/29/24 Cardinals' Dylan Carlson Breaks Silence Amid Guardians, Nationals Trade Interest. The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching as teams have until Tuesday at 6 PM ET to get their trades in. One player that could be traded in the next 24 hours is St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson. Carlson is reportedly getting interest from the Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Angels and Washington Nationals. “The Cards still need to clear a roster spot after trading for RHP Erick Fedde and OF/DH Tommy Pham.”

7/27/24 Cardinals lost in the 10th, but costly miscues throughout paved the way for a bitter defeat. The costly misplay in the 10th inning certainly provides an ultimate turning point, the moment when the game ultimately got away from the Cardinals for good. After all, the deciding runs scored and the momentum — for those who believe in such things — tipped entirely in favor of the Washington Nationals. Before right fielder Dylan Carlson misjudged a line drive off the bat of Jacob Young and couldn't recover quickly enough to overcome a faulty route to the ball, the Cardinals were digging themselves a hole with miscues and mistakes that don't show up as errors in the box score. It also came at a time when the Cardinals (53-50) have slipped out of a playoff spot and must continue to win series or risk losing critical ground in their postseason chase.

6/08/24 Cardinals Outfielder Is 'Change Of Scenery' Candidate According To Insider. The St. Louis Cardinals could end up making a few subtractions around the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline. St. Louis has a chance to become buyers ahead of the trade deadline if it can continue its recent stretch of play, but one young outfielder could be on the way out of town whether the Cardinals decide to buy or sell. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand put together a list of players that could use a "change of scenery" and mentioned Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson as an option.

4/29/24 Cardinals get crucial injury update on ex-Rookie of the Year candidate. The St. Louis Cardinals have been without a familiar face in the lineup since Opening Day. Outfielder Dylan Carlson, who is an everyday player when healthy, is slated to begin a rehab assignment in the minors this week, the team announced on Monday. Carlson injured his shoulder on March 25, three days before the 2024 regular season began. Carlson took batting practice at Busch Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

4/25/24 Hochman: Is Cardinals' Jordan Walker on path to become the next Dylan Carlson?. The fear — with all due respect to Dylan Carlson — is that Jordan Walker becomes Dylan Carlson. Of course, there's still some time for Carlson, 25, to become a productive major leaguer (be it in St. Louis or, as the trend has recently gone, in another city). The swatting switch-hitter debuted in 2020 — had a big postseason game, too, that pandemic season — and then tallied a .780 on-base plus slugging percentage in 2021, the year he finished third in the voting for National League Rookie of the Year. Man, if you had asked me in 2020 where Carlson would be as a player by 2024, I would've said: multitime All-Star.

4/20/24 Cardinals get pair of injury updates. It's been a slow start to the season for the St. Louis Cardinals as they're currently in last place in the National League Central. Two players hit the team's injury report as Dylan Carlson (sprained left AC joint) and Keynan Middleton (right forearm strain) are still unavailable, according to MLB.com. Carlson first hurt his shoulder on March 25 but seems to be progressing through his injury nicely.
