8/18/24 Tampa Bay Rays have a combined no-hitter after 6 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay's Drew Rasmussen and Tyler Alexander have a combined no-hitter through six innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Rasmussen struck out two during two perfect innings as the opener. Alexander has allowed one baserunner, issuing a leadoff walk to Geraldo Perdomo in the fourth. The left-hander has five strikeouts. Arizona's Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was thrown out by shortstop Taylor Walls on a first-inning grounder that was deflected by a diving Junior Caminero at third base. Walls also made a nifty grab on a tough one-hopper by Randal Grichuk in the fifth. The Rays lead 5-0. ___ AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB

8/10/24 Inside Drew Rasmussen’s return to Rays from 3rd elbow surgery. ST. PETERSBURG — Understandably, there were some unsettling and uncertain days last summer as Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen dealt with the reality of needing a third major surgery on his pitching elbow in seven years. “There’s not that many guys that have had three elbow surgeries that are pitching in the big leagues, so I think that that fear might have got to him a little bit,” ...

7/22/24 Tampa Bay Rays' Drew Rasmussen, Recovering From Elbow Surgery, Shines in Rehab Start. Drew Rasmussen underwent a hybrid internal brace procedure on his right elbow on July 24, 2023. A full year later, the Tampa Bay Rays pitcher is back on the mound and gearing up for a return to the big leagues. Rasmussen, who has been on the 60-day injured list since before the 2024 season even started, made his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham on Sunday. As noted by Just Baseball's Aram Leighton, Rasmussen tossed a 99 mile-per-hour fastball to the first batter he faced, showing that his 12-month absence did not do much to hurt his velocity.

7/08/23 Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen needs a third elbow surgery. Rasmussen's surgery is scheduled for July 24, and the procedure will be done by Dr. Keith Meister, Rays manager Kevin Cash said before Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Rasmussen, who has been on the 60-day injured list with what was called a right elbow flexor strain since May 12, previously had Tommy John surgery in March 2016 and August 2017.

5/16/23 Why Rays' upcoming homestand will be full of warm fuzzies. When the Rays escape from New York late Thursday afternoon, they will have completed their longest road trip of the season, an 11-day journey marked by tense games, the pain of Drew Rasmussen's injury and extensive roster shuffling. When they return to Tropicana Field on Friday with the majors' best record, they will open the longest homestand of the season, a 10-game run that, regardless of the outcomes, will be filled with tight hugs, warm fuzzies and good memories. Fitting with the nostalgic theme of the Rays' 25th-anniversary season, the upcoming visits by the Brewers, Blue Jays and Dodgers will bring back some players and staff who played significant roles on the field and off in the franchise's success.

5/13/23 Yankees Rivalry Roundup: Cedric Mullins hits for the cycle. It was a tough day for the Rays on multiple fronts. First, they lost starter Drew Rasmussen to the 60-day IL due to a flexor strain. Then, they squandered multiple leads in Bronx to miss out on an opportunity to keep the Yankees entrenched in the AL East cellar. To be clear, the Yankees are still last in the East, but after a big win last night against a serious opponent, maybe things are looking up?

5/12/23 Drew Rasmussen out indefinitely with flexor strain. The Tampa Bay Rays have placed right-handed pitcher Drew Rasmussen on the 60-day IL with a flexor strain. A shocking development as Rasmussen had just delivered one of the best outings of his career on Thursday in New York when he shutdown the Yankees over seven innings, holding their lineup to just two basehits while he racked up seven strikeouts and walked none. Overall in 2023, Rasmussen has compiled a 2.62 ERA | 2.59 FIP with a 26.6 K% and 6.2 BB% across 44 2/3 innings pitched. Rasmussen has already undergone Tommy John surgery twice, with the procedure first being performed during his college days in 2017 and then once again while rehabbing from the surgery the following year.

The Rays won three of four from the Yankees in a seven-day span, opening a nine-game AL East lead.

4/30/23 White Sox 12, Rays 9: What?. The Chicago White Sox have WON! The White Sox got the early lead in the bottom of the first with Drew Rasmussen on the mound after to back-to-back singles from Adam Haseley and Andrew Vaughn, which led to a Gavin Sheets sacrifice fly. The Rays went without a run until the top of the fourth, although we knew they'd put runs on the board, eventually. Of course it happened in their usual home-run fashion, as Taylor Walls drove one out to right field to tie the game.
