8/28/24 Marlins rally for 5 runs in 9th inning to stun Rockies 9-8 on Sánchez's homer. Jesús Sánchez hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run rally in the ninth inning that gave the Miami Marlins an improbable 9-8 comeback victory against the Colorado Rockies. In a matchup between the National League’s two worst teams, the Marlins trailed 6-0 early and were down by four entering the ninth. But they got a two-run double from Jake Burger before Sánchez followed with his 17th homer. It was the largest deficit Miami has overcome this season, besting the five-run hole it climbed out of in an April 30 win, which also came against the Rockies. Kyle Stowers hit his second home run and first triple of the season for Miami.

8/21/24 Out of the Frying Pan.... I dunno if Jake Burger wishes he was back in Chicago about now, but I think he definitely wishes he got traded somewhere other than Miami last year. Not that it's going especially badly for him specifically. Burger has been a really hot power hitter lately, with a team leading 24 home runs and 55 RBIs. That's some very big numbers for a guy who always felt overshadowed in Chicago. The problem is that now Burger's one of the only horses in town for the Marlins. So many people have left that it's really down to Burger, Jesus Sanchez and Xavier Edwards right now, and that's basically it. People have called the White Sox a triple-A team this year, but the Marlins are getting very close just with

8/15/24 What’s The Point: Flipping Burgers. What is up party people? Teams hungry for points have to be pleased with the recent performance of Jake Burger. He's flashed some upside before, especially in the power department. After all, he did smack 34 bombs last season. Batting average won't ever be pretty, but hovering in the .250 range is perfectly acceptable if he's hitting dingers like he has the past two seasons. With 22 so far, he should come real close to his 2023 total and if he gets hot he could super size that number.

8/11/24 Burger homers for third straight game, Marlins win 7-6 to snap Padres' seven-game win streak. Jake Burger homered for the third straight game, Jesús Sánchez also had a home run and the Miami Marlins beat San Diego 7-6 on Sunday to end the Padres’ seven-game win streak. Burger has homered 12 times since the All-Star break. Ha-Seong Kim originally was credited with a game-tying home run off Andrew Nardi when his drive bounced off the padding in left field and then deflected over the wall with two outs in the ninth. But after an umpire review, the call was reversed to a double. George Soriano relieved Nardi and struck out Luis Campuzano for his first save.

7/08/24 MLB roundup: Marlins stun White Sox with walk-off HR. Down to their last strike, the host Miami Marlins picked up a 7-4 walk-off win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon when Jake Burger slugged a three-run homer against his former team. With two outs in the ninth, and the Marlins trailing 4-3, Miami first baseman Josh Bell — mired in an 0-for-23 slump — drove an RBI double just over the glove of leaping left fielder Tommy Pham. After an intentional walk to Jesus Sanchez, Burger connected on a 99-mph fastball from closer Michael Kopech (2-8), who blew the save. JT Chargois (1-0) came away with the victory after tossing a scoreless inning of relief. The White Sox had built a 4-1 lead thanks in part to two runs in the sixth. Danny Mendick
