Tampa Bay (69-70) earned a season-series win, four games to two, by crafting its best inning of 2024 with eight runs during a scoreless game in the home half of the fourth on Wednesday. The fourth-place American League East club sent 11 batters to the plate and notched five hits to take full control and go up 8-0. On any other day, Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls' double against the New York Yankees would not have gotten any attention. On Sunday, Walls drew the eyes of a lot of Americans in the fifth inning of the game when he appeared to pay homage to former President Trump, who survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania only eight days prior. 7/21/24	Tampa Bay Rays Go Viral For Donald Trump Themed Celebration. The Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 6-4 on Sunday afternoon to take game three of the series at Yankee Stadium. The Rays blasted four home runs in the win and moved to 50-49 with the victory while the loss dropped the Yankees to 59-42. The Rays are now just 4.5 games back of the third and final wild card spot while the Yankees are 2.0 games back of the division. After undergoing hip surgery last October, Rays shortstop Taylor Walls is back with the Tampa Bay Rays after he was reinstated Friday afternoon.
