9/14/24 Padres' Mike Shildt Provides Latest Update on Injury Status of Ha-Seong Kim. San Diego Padres fans were disheartened when shortstop Ha-Seong Kim left the Aug. 18 game against the Colorado Rockies early due to what the team called a jammed shoulder. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, Kim was most recently seen playing catch on Friday but did not throw across the diamond. Kim was a standout player in the 2023 season, finishing 14th in MVP voting and earning a Gold Glove Award.

9/12/24 Lingering Injury to Padres' Ha-Seong Kim Gives Opportunity to Veteran Teammate. With San Diego Padres shortstop Ha-Seong Kim's shoulder injury taking longer to heal, manager Mike Shildt has had to make a few changes to his infield lineup, allowing a former shortstop to play his old position again. Xander Bogaerts made his first start at shortstop this season while Donovan Solano got the start at first base behind right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish on Tuesday. Padres' manager Mike Shildt discussed the lineup changes and Kim's progress — or the lack thereof — prior to the team's penultimate game in Seattle.

9/07/24 Red Sox projected to sign versatile infielder in free agency. The Boston Red Sox are five games back of the Minnesota Twins for the third and final wild-card spot in the American League with just 21 games to go in the regular season. With not much time left, Boston should be preparing for the offseason and thinking about who they want to sign to improve their chances of playing postseason baseball in 2025 and beyond. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter recently put together projected Opening Day lineups for every team next year, and Boston's had just one player not on their current roster - San Diego Padres infielder Ha-Seong Kim.

8/27/24 Padres' Ha-Seong Kim Awaiting MRI Results on Shoulder. A slide back to first base injured the throwing shoulder of Padres' Ha-Seong Kim on Aug. 18 in their game against the Rockies. Two days later, the Padres placed Kim on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee reported that Kim was in San Diego getting an MRI on Monday. 8/22/24 Why Won't Padres' Xander Bogaerts Move Back to Shortstop After Ha-Seong Kim Injury?. San Diego Padres shortstop Ha-Seong Kim landed on the injured list for the first time in his career this week after jamming his shoulder. With Kim out, the Padres surprisingly utilized Tyler Wade at shortstop, rather than bringing Xander Bogaerts back to the position. While Bogaerts was originally a shortstop, he made the transition to second base before the season so that Kim could play shortstop.

8/12/24 Padres Have Two of MLB's Top 21 Pending Free Agents: Report. Losing players to free agency is a common casualty of success. Infielder Ha-Seong Kim and new reliever Tanner Scott are both eligible for free agency after the 2024 World Series ends. In Kim's case, there's a chance he will remain with the Padres under his current contract because it includes a mutual option for 2025. Mutual options are rarely exercised in Major League Baseball.

6/27/24 The Padres Lead MLB In a Surprising Offensive Category. Small ball goes a long way sometimes, and the San Diego Padres are one of Major League Baseball's best teams when it comes to turning a bunt into a base hit. On Monday night, in a 7-6 extra-inning victory over the Washington Nationals, Ha-Seong Kim dropped a perfectly placed bunt in the second inning. It was originally a safety squeeze that turned into a single. It scored Jake Cronenworth for the game's first run and was the Padres' 14th bunt hit of the season.

6/21/24 One Step Forward, One Step Back for the Padres. Pads shortstop and fan favorite Ha-Seong Kim is at the plate. Fans at Petco Park erupt as the A's left fielder watches the ball sail over his head, though he collects it after it caroms off the wall and flings it toward the infield. Such is the story of the 2024 San Diego Padres. “It's been a confusing, back and forth season,” says AJ Cassavell, MLB.com's Padres beat reporter.
