9/02/24 Mariners' woes can be placed on doorstep of front office. Excited as fans, and perhaps players, may have been about a change in managerial scenery, the Mariners' woes are a byproduct of those above his pay grade. Yes, a sizable percentage of the shortcomings stem from players such as Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford falling well short of their traditional output (even if Julio's “traditional output” was just two years old before opening day.) But mainly, it's about roster construction. This is on the front office. Note that president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto's name was not singled out in the sentence above, but he shoulders a great deal of the blame.

8/23/24 Mariners' Julio Rodriguez breaks silence on Scott Servais firing. The Seattle Mariners have decided that they needed a new voice from their managerial seat and they fired Scott Servais and replaced him former Mariners All-Star catcher Dan Wilson. The team has slumped badly after building a double-digit lead in the American League West, and the Mariners now trail the Houston Astros by 5.5 games. Seattle outfielder Julio Rodriguez did not act surprised by the dismissal of his manager. While many observers were not expecting the Mariners to fire Servais, Rodriguez did not rush to his manager's defense.

8/18/24 Julio Rodriguez reveals a new side in midst of Mariners' frustrating losing skid. It was a new look from Julio Rodriguez, and then a new voice. In his first two-plus years with the Mariners, Rodriguez has been reluctant to serve as something of a team spokesperson in media interviews, generally deferring to veteran teammates in those situations, especially after difficult losses. The affable 23-year-old — a marketer's dream because of his easy smile, his natural charm and his rare athleticism — was demonstrably angry in the visitors' clubhouse after he'd struck out with the bases loaded to end the Mariners' 7-2 loss to the Pirates. Rodriguez declined an initial interview request soon after the clubhouse opened to media members.

8/08/24 Mariners star Julio Rodriguez's primary concern amid injury recovery. The Seattle Mariners are on the outside of the American League Wild Card race. The Mariners star crashed into the outfield wall while attempting to make a catch against the Houston Astors on July 21, in turn suffering an ankle injury. 'Rodríguez participated in lateral exercises before the rest of the Mariners took the field for their daily pregame workout, then lightly jogged the bases during batting practice before taking part in his own round of BP. Mariners manager Scott Servais preferred not to comment on Wednesday's development until after speaking with Seattle's athletic training staff.'

7/24/24 Dead SEA. The Astros catching up in the standings at the exact moment that Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford hit the IL just confirms the fact that somewhere, some deity absolutely despises the Seattle Mariners. Clearly, this week is a clean slate week for the Mariners. With Rodriguez and Crawford out for a while and Ty France surprisingly DFA'd, the lineup needs to be completely restructured. Now the heart of the team needs to be people like Cal Raleigh, Luke Raley and Josh Rojas, who, while good, aren't especially central figures to me.
