8/23/24 The Phillies wanted to 'try to shore up some areas' on offense, so they made a change to their batting practice routine. The Phillies typically hit off of their curveball machine in the batting cages, but on Friday, they did something different. Manager Rob Thomson said it helps players see how far the ball is traveling, and a time when off-speed pitches are eluding them, players have been eager to get extra work in. From April to May, the Phillies were swinging at pitches out of the zone at a rate of 31.5%, per FanGraphs. » READ MORE: The Phillies expected more from Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh.

8/16/24 Philadelphia Phillies Linked to Infielder With Immense Potential in Mock Draft. The Philadelphia Phillies have made it a point of late to go with prep talent with their first-round picks. In fact, the Phillies haven't taken a college player in the first round since 2019, when they took current second baseman Bryson Stott out of UNLV. Then a shortstop, he moved over to second base when Philadelphia signed shortstop Trea Turner to a long-term deal. The 2025 MLB draft is 11 months away but that didn't stop Bleacher Report from putting together a mock draft for next year's first round.

7/26/24 Defensive miscues plagues Phillies' fourth straight series opening loss, this time vs. Guardians. The Cleveland Guardians didn't hit Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez particularly hard on Friday. Sánchez scattered eight hits — all singles — across six innings, and only allowed contact harder than 95 mph twice. Bryson Stott led off the fifth inning with a homer to right field, but that was the extent of Sánchez's run support. The Phillies were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Sánchez made his second start since signing a four-year, $22.5 million contract extension. He allowed three hits, struck out nine and walked none for his first career complete game. Philadelphia placed Harper and Schwarber on the 10-day injured list after both were hurt in Thursday night’s loss to Miami.

5/19/24 Has Philadelphia Phillies Late-Game Hero Played Himself Into Roster Spot?. It looked like the Philadelphia Phillies were going to drop a game to their divisional foe Washington Nationals on Saturday as they just couldn't get anything going at the plate against the opposing ace who had elite stuff. The Phillies trailed after the first inning before tying things up in the fourth. Then, the next frame, they trailed once again before Bryson Stott's solo blast in the seventh leveled it at two and knocked MacKenzie Gore out of the game. With two mini comebacks already under their belt on Saturday, it seemed like a third would be insurmountable in the top of the ninth inning after the Nationals got a run across to break up the stalemate.

The City Connects were only officially unveiled last Friday in a big event at Citizens Bank Park. “Good job,” Bryson Stott told Wheeler, per MLB.com. Like so many of these stories, it starts with a shipping container and ends with someone cutting open an unloaded box and taking something for themselves — sneakers, jewelry, or maybe even an unreleased Phillies jersey.
