3/29/24 BASEBALL: Holderman set for third big-league season; Stuart, Headrick, Dodd dazzle in spring training. As Major League Baseball celebrated Opening Day Thursday, Bourbonnais native and 2014 Bradley-Bourbonnais Colin Holderman took part in his second Opening Day as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen. The 6-foot-4 Holderman is entering his third season in the bigs after making his debut with the New York Mets in 2022 and a breakout 2023 in Pittsburgh, where he was dealt at the 2022 trade deadline. As the primary setup man for All-Star closer David Bednar, Holderman recorded 27 holds — spending much of the first half of the season atop the league leaders — and a pair of saves in 2023, compiling an 0-3 record with a 3.86 earned run average across 58 appearances (56 innings).

10/09/23 Pirates Top Games of 2023: No. 10 — Mitch's Memorable Mother's Day. In an abysmal month of May, the Pirates picked up a 4-0 shutout win over the eventual AL East champion Baltimore Orioles and Keller played a big role in it. Colin Holderman and David Bednar followed Keller with back-to-back two-hit, two-strikeouts innings to claim the win.

9/15/23 Yankees rally past Pirates thanks to ninth-inning error. A four-run ninth inning, fueled by a crucial error, lifted the visiting New York Yankees to a 7-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. New York trailed 5-3 with the bases loaded and one out before Pittsburgh's Colin Holderman (0-3) walked Estevan Florial to force in a run. Anthony Volpe then grounded into what should have been a game-ending double play. Shortstop Liover Peguero fielded a grounder and threw to Ji Hwan Bae for a forceout at second, but Bae's throw bounced past first base for an error as two runs scored to put the Yankees up 6-5.

8/15/23 Would Mets want do-over on trade that contributed to downfall?. On July 22, 2022, the New York Mets traded a little known relief pitcher for a designated hitter. More than a year later, it's one that New York may want back: Colin Holderman has developed into a lockdown set-up man for the Pittsburgh Pirates, while Daniel Vogelbach, after a solid second half last season, has been a below average one-dimensional player. Chief among the issues that have played the 54-65 Mets this season is the bullpen.

7/15/23 Feel free to keep booing the Pirates. The Pittsburgh Pirates lost their 50th game of the year Friday night, their first game after a five-day sabbatical in the form of the All-Star break. The bullpen, specifically Colin Holderman, could not hold the Pirate lead as they fell to the visiting Giants 6-4, another disappointing loss in a stretch of baseball where fans have come to expect a disappointing loss or five in any given week. It's as though this is some kind of twisted practical joke, one that Henry Davis, Endy Rodriguez and everyone who watches is the butt of.

6/12/23 Mets Morning News: Shanghaied. Using a pair of off days to his advantage, Buck Showalter is considering subtracting a starter and adding a reliever to the roster. Colin Holderman, the other half of the Daniel Vogelbach trade, is having a pretty nice time in Pittsburgh. At this point, it's fair to ask what the hell the Mets are doing with Mark Vientos and Daniel Vogelbach.

3/28/23 Daniel Vogelbach looks to continue to beat up right-handed pitching. When Daniel Vogelbach walked to the plate on International Women's Day at Citi Field to Kelis's “Milkshake,” the entire stadium erupted in cheers. It was a perfect song to go along with Vogelbach, a new Mets addition that looked to inject some life into their dormant designated hitter spot in the lineup. Initially, the trade from the Pirates for reliever Colin Holderman did just that. In his first month in Queens, Vogelbach was exactly as advertised: a very patient hitter with a good eye and some serious power who crushes right-handed pitching.

6/12/22 New York Mets Lose Budding Reliever to IL. Despite experiencing some occasional turbulence, the New York Mets' bullpen has been solid overall throughout the regular season (3.83 ERA, 13th in MLB) - thanks to the surprising support they've received from their depth pieces. One of these pleasant surprises has been 26-year-old flame throwing rookie Colin Holderman, who is 3-0 with a 3.18 ERA across 11 1/3 innings to begin his MLB career.
