9/17/24 How White Sox clubhouse is coping as worst team in MLB history. Last week, hours after the Chicago White Sox's latest attempt to win a baseball game fell apart in typically absurd fashion, Davis Martin could only chuckle. Every White Sox player has found a coping mechanism to endure the 2024 season, and Martin's is laughter. Unlike much of the sports world, he's not snickering at the team, but rather at how every day seems to invite something more farcical than the previous. Martin was the starting pitcher in that game, looking to secure Chicago's first win at Guaranteed Rate Field in a month.

9/17/24 Deadspin | White Sox, riding rare win streak, oppose Angels again. Davis Martin is confident the Chicago White Sox can continue their rare upturn. Martin will get another chance to show he should be considered part of the club's future when he takes the mound against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif. The White Sox (36-115) won the opener of the three-game series 8-4 on Monday, giving them three straight victories for the first time since June 27-29. "Wins have been hard to come by, so when you can get one, you appreciate it," Chicago interim manager Grady Sizemore said postgame.

8/26/24 Chicago White Sox suffer 20th sweep of the season and loss No. 101, falling 6-3 to the Detroit Tigers. Davis Martin threw a changeup and then a slider and a fastball. The Chicago White Sox starter went to curveball and back to fastball. Detroit Tigers third baseman Jace Jung fouled them all off as the count remained 2-2. Finally, on the 10th pitch of the at-bat, Martin got Jung to swing-and-miss on a changeup for the final out of the fifth inning. Jung got the best of the Sox in the seventh ...

8/22/24 White Sox' Davis Martin then and now: "Night and day difference". Davis Martin was something of a forgotten man in the White Sox pitching picture. While Martin was away and mending toward a comeback, he changed much of his identity as a pitcher, so when he came back it was hard to identify him in the team photo. “Night and day difference” Martin said.. An occasional spot starter call-up from Triple-A Charlotte to the Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech, Lucas Giolito, Johnny Cueto rotation in 2022, Martin (4.83 ERA) left a fine impression, starting nine games and relieving in five more.

8/20/24 White Sox notes: Another loss, Davis Martin, Drew Thorpe, Enyel De Los Santos. White Sox right-hander Davis Martin has pitched well – three earned runs on 10 hits over 16 innings in his last three starts – but hasn't won a game. Making his fifth appearance and fourth start since coming back from Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Martin got lackluster support from his fielders, too, in the Sox' 4-1 loss to the Giants. Mike Yastrzemski's one-hop single off second baseman Lenyn Sosa's glove in the second inning figured in the first run.

3/31/23 SSS on the Farm Podcast 38 — 2023 Charlotte Knights preview. It's another season in Charlotte, and hopefully a good for a Knights team that wasn't just bad in 2022, but embarrassingly so, as just one-third of Charlotte starts were made by legit starting pitchers. The biggie: Will the Knights start actual starting pitchers this season? With Davis Martin, Sean Burke, Jonathan Stiever and John Parke, it appears so.

3/09/23 Can Davis Martin be even better for the White Sox in 2023?. Davis Martin saw big innings last year in his rookie season after an abundance of injuries. It allowed Martin to compete at the major league level. In 2022, the Texas Tech alum pitched in 14 games (9 starts), 63.1 innings pitched, and 48 batters retired via strikeout. While his stats in 2022 don't jump out at you, Davis Martin pitched better than what his stats show and he was a considerable piece of the Chicago White Sox's rotation as well as the bullpen.

3/01/23 Gamethread: White Sox vs. Guardians. What kind of Spring Training is this? Davis Martin takes the hill for the Pale Hose in his first live game action of the year after positing a 4.83 ERA in 14 appearances (9 starts) as a rookie in 2022, a number much more reflective of the unfortunate nine-run rout he endured in his final appearances after what had been to that point an excellent rookie campaign. In addition to a heater than averaged 94 mph last year, Martin possess a slider, curveball, and changeup, all of which showed flashes of being viable big league pitches last season. Perhaps unusually for this point in the spring, the starting lineup very much resembles something we wouldn't be surprised to see come April or May, with only Andrew Vaughn getting a day off in favor of the red-hot Jake Burger.

10/06/22 Column: Chicago White Sox end the 2022 season in fitting fashion — saving their worst for last. So a small crowd of a few thousand Sox fans showed up Wednesday on a gorgeous October afternoon to send off one of the most unlovable teams in recent memory. They booed on cue during the Minnesota Twins’ six-run first inning and gave starter Davis Martin a Bronx cheer when he finally got the third out. When Vince Velasquez came on in the second and gave up a two-run single to make it 9-0, a fan tried to start a “Fire Tony” chant for old times’ sake.
