9/03/24 Low-stakes September underway, SF Giants' comeback falls short. September for the Giants is going to be about experience and opportunities, and they checked off both boxes Tuesday night. At Oracle Park, Tristan Beck made his season debut out of the bullpen and former top prospect Marco Luciano logged his first MLB innings at second base — what could be his primary position moving forward. Beck struck out four in 3 ? innings, and Luciano went 1-for-4, including an RBI single that brought the Giants within one. Luis Matos, another September call-up, got a pair of pinch-hit plate appearances but struck out both times.

9/01/24 San Francisco Giants Activate Injured Reliever as Rosters Expand. The time has finally come for pitcher Tristan Beck to return to the Majors. The San Francisco Giants activated the pitcher, who has been rehabbing an injury all season, along with outfielder Blake Sabol as rosters expanded to 28 players on Sunday. The Giants did not need to make a corresponding move. San Francisco had made several moves on Saturday that helped clean up the roster.

9/01/24 SF Giants add Beck, Sabol as rosters expand, but keep Luciano, Matos in minors. For Tristan Beck, the answer to Bob Melvin's inquiry was obvious. “I was all planned out to be in Sacramento today,” Beck said on Sunday morning. After spending the last six months recovering from an aneurysm in his arm, Beck was activated from the injured list on Sunday as rosters around Major League Baseball expanded from 26 to 28 players. The Giants recalled catcher and outfielder Blake Sabol from Triple-A Sacramento as well, deciding to keep Marco Luciano, Luis Matos and the recently signed Cavan Biggio in the minors.

8/13/24 San Francisco Giants Announce Three Injury Rehab Starts for Sacramento. The San Francisco Giants may have some reinforcements coming soon, as three injured players are set to rehab at Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, per multiple reports. Pitcher Tristan Beck is expected to be in three innings, while pitcher Tyler Matzek and infielder Thairo Estrada will begin rehab assignments. Beck has been on the 60-day injured list all season after he was diagnosed with a upper right arm aneurysm in February. Tuesday's game with the River Cats will be his second rehab game.

5/03/24 Tristan Beck cleared to throw again after aneurysm, plus updates on SF Giants' other injured pitchers. Three months since an aneurysm was discovered in his right shoulder, Tristan Beck was cleared to throw a baseball Friday and will begin his progression to return to the mound sometime this season. The big step for Beck, 27, came after his latest follow-up appointment with Stanford vascular specialist Dr. Jason Lee, and was just one of a number of developments among injured Giants pitchers that the team provided before opening a four-game series against the Phillies. Beck will start a light throwing program Monday in San Francisco, joining Alex Cobb in throwing off flat ground. Neither pitcher can be activated until May 27, though manager Bob Melvin indicated it's more likely Cobb will be ready by then than Beck.

4/10/24 Former Stanford players on SF Giants react to Tara VanDerveer's retirement. Giants right-hander Tristan Beck reacted as any former Stanford athlete would at the news that women's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer is retiring. “She was right in the middle of things,” Beck said Wednesday before the Giants (4-8) closed out a six-day homestand against the Washington Nationals (5-6) in hopes of avoiding a three-game sweep. VanDerveer, 70, retired Tuesday night after 38 years at Stanford and 45 overall.

3/03/24 Without Tristan Beck, now what? Evaluating SF Giants' potential rotation options. With Tristan Beck set to undergo surgery Monday, the leak already sprung in the San Francisco Giants' rotation morphed into a gaping hole. Set to enter the season with a group behind Logan Webb that had combined to make 23 major-league starts, manager Bob Melvin has even less he can count on now in his inaugural starting rotation. Finding a fifth starter becomes priority No. 1 in Melvin's first camp as San Francisco's skipper. The best options exist outside the organization.

10/17/23 Player Review: Tristan Beck. Of the 83 hits Tristan Beck allowed over the season, 25 of them went for extra-bases (10 HR, 15 2B). 23 of those 25 hits came against a Beck breaking ball. The sweeper he ironed out, tailored and delivered to Juan Soto on September 1st landed in the bushes just below the batter's eye. A ho-hum slider to Fernando Tatis had put the Padres up 2-runs in the 1st a batter earlier.

9/05/23 Giants @ Cubs Gamethread. The San Francisco Giants started their series against the Chicago Cubs with a flop, losing 5-0 for their fourth-straight loss and second-straight shutout. Yet despite that, the Giants remain just one game out of the Wild Card, and some of the teams ahead of them have tough games today, with the Cincinnati Reds facing the Seattle Mariners and the Miami Marlins playing the Los Angeles Dodgers . Before the game the Giants made a few moves, optioning RHP Tristan Beck, activating RHP John Brebbia from the 60-day IL, and releasing A.J. Pollock . Despite the return of opener extraordinaire Brebbia, it's righty Ryan Walker who takes the mound for the Giants. Walker is making his 39th appearance in his
