Angel Martinez was just recalled to the big leagues on September 14 as Steven Kwan was sidelined with a back injury. Cleveland's seventh-ranked prospect has wasted no time making an immediate impact in the Guardians lineup. Since being called up, Martinez has hit .500/.583/.600 including two walks and just one strikeout.

9/14/24 Guardians Recall Versatile Prospect, Option Tyler Freeman In Latest Roster Moves. The Cleveland Guardians made a pair of roster moves ahead of their game with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Guardians have recalled one of their most versatile prospects in the system as Angel Martinez is added back to the major league roster. Martinez has appeared in 31 major league games this season and has played all over the field. Most of those games have been in center field (21), with also some time in right and left field (13).

7/24/24 Three Cleveland Guardians Who Deserve More Playing Time. The Cleveland Guardians have shown signs of life on offense over the last two games as they look to break out of their offensive slide. Johnkensy Noel has certainly taken advantage of his major league opportunities so far. Noel, or 'Big Christmas' as some like to call him, is hitting .286/.333/.786 over his last seven games which including two home runs and three RBI. With Angel Martinez finding early success since being called up, Tyler Freeman's role diminished into a platoon hitter against left-handed pitching.

7/21/24 Padres' Michael King has no-hit bid broken up in 7th inning on single by Guardians' Angel Martinez. Guardians rookie Angel Martinez blooped a single to center in the seventh inning to break up a no-hit bid by San Diego's Michael King. Bidding to throw just the second no-hitter in team history, King dominated Cleveland's hitters through six innings before Martínez, who walked in the fourth, dropped his soft single into center. The Guardians, who got just one hit on Saturday, trail 2-1. Joe Musgrove pitched San Diego's only no-hitter in 2021.

7/07/24 Cleveland Guardians' Angel Martinez Could Be a Star in the Making. The No. 9 overall prospect in the Guardians minor league system (according to MLB.com) was called up from Triple-A on June 21 and made his major-league debut the next day against the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite not getting a hit in his first start and being sent back down to Columbus for a short stint, Martinez would quickly find his rhythm in Cleveland. Before yesterday's matchup against the San Francisco Giants, the 22-year-old went 5-for-10 with two doubles, four walks and four RBI in three games. Martinez recently took over the 2-hole for the Guardians on Friday, Jul 5, where he displayed his discipline at the plate by drawing three walks while recording a double.

6/21/24 Major League Scouting Report: Cleveland Guardians' Angel Martinez. The Cleveland Guardians have promoted infielder Angel Martinez to the parent club. The switch-hitting Martinez is taking the role of Gabriel Arias, who was placed on the Major League Baseball family emergency list June 21. Martinez, 22, has been on fire recently, and graduates to the big leagues after hitting .333 with three home runs so far this season in 74 plate appearances at Triple-A Columbus. Martinez got a late start to this season following a foot contusion he suffered during spring training.

Infielder Angel Martinez, who turned 22 in January, has had some clutch hits this spring. This spring, third baseman/shortstop Daniel Schneemann, 27, has provided both superb defense and an ability to hit line-drive darts off the barrel of the bat.
