9/11/24 San Francisco Giants Have Outside Chance at Making Unique Franchise History. The playoff hopes for the San Francisco Giants have dwindled to nearly zero. Alas, there is also some history that could be made by the 2024 Giants. Last Thursday, catcher Patrick Bailey hit a walk-off double to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks at Oracle Park. As shared by Grant Brisbee of The Athletic, that is putting this year's team within reach of a franchise record.

8/29/24 SF Giants activate Patrick Bailey, DFA backup catcher. Patrick Bailey was back behind the plate Thursday for the Giants' series finale against the Brewers. Bailey was activated from the injured list after a minimum 10-day stay with an oblique strain. In a corresponding move, the Giants designated Andrew Knapp for assignment, leaving them with Bailey and Curt Casali as their catching duo — at least until rosters expand to 28 on Sunday. The Brewers have gone 3-for-3 stealing bases over the first two games of the series, so the Giants were looking forward to getting Bailey's defensive acumen back.

8/23/24 Real reason former All-Star Game MVP rejected Giants' offer. The San Francisco Giants are gearing up for a push toward the postseason. As of August 23, the Giants are 4.0 games back in the Wild Card standings and missing out on Diaz is a small setback. The 10-year veteran rejected their offer because even after the return of Patrick Bailey from the 10-day injured list, Diaz's roster spot wouldn't be guaranteed, according to reporting from Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

8/21/24 San Francisco Giants Move Young Star Back to Injured List After MRI. The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Patrick Bailey on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain, per the team. To take his place, the Giants recalled Jakson Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento to take the open roster spot. Until Bailey returns, Curt Casali will be the starting catcher. San Francisco entered Tuesday's action one game above .500 and were 3.5 back of the final Wild Card berth.

8/20/24 Dissecting Patrick Bailey's second-half struggles as SF Giants place catcher on IL. Standing in front of his locker Monday night with an ice pack wrapped in athletic tape around his right torso, Patrick Bailey smiled and snickered. The Giants' catcher rarely hits on the field before games; he prefers to get his pregame work done in the batting cages in between prepping with that night's pitcher. Bailey was scratched from the Giants' lineup before the first game of the series and on Tuesday was placed on the 10-day injured list after an MRI revealed a strained right oblique. Jakson Reetz was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to back up Curt Casali, who started behind the plate for the second straight game.

8/20/24 Giants' Patrick Bailey drops crucial injury update after absence vs. White Sox. The San Francisco Giants are trying to stay alive for the postseason by racking up wins against the worst teams in the MLB. First, they defeated the Oakland Athletics 4-2 on Monday, and now, the Giants beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 for a quick two-game win streak that put them at 64-63, good enough for fourth place in the National League West. “Patrick Bailey called his side tightness 'very, very minor' and that he was a precautionary scratch,” as reported by Andrew Baggarly on X, formerly Twitter.

6/15/24 Could San Francisco Giants Catcher Be Headed To First All-Star Game?. The San Francisco Giants have a couple of players that could end up in the All-Star game for the first time, but their catcher might have the best chance. As David Adler of MLB.com examined the best 'under-the-radar' All-Star candidates around MLB, he landed on Patrick Bailey as the National League's catcher. Bailey was praised for his ability on both sides of the baseball, shining as both a batter and defender at times this season. The switch-hitting slugger is up across the board at the plate from his rookie campaign to now.

Patrick Bailey hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning, Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman saved San Francisco with a defensive gem and the Giants came back from another big deficit to beat the staggering New York Mets 8-7. After climbing out of a 6-2 hole in the eighth, the Giants joined the 1932 St. Louis Cardinals as the only major league teams since 1900 to win three consecutive road games in which they trailed by at least four runs. Jorge Soler and Mike Yastrzemski also homered for the Giants, who won their seventh in eight games to reach .500 for the first time since they were 2-2 on March 31.

Mark Vientos then hit a slow bouncer to third, and Chapman made an outstanding barehand play for the final out. Jorge Soler and Mike Yastrzemski also homered for the Giants, who won their seventh in eight games to reach .500 for the first time since they were 2-2.

5/21/24 SF Giants activate Patrick Bailey from concussion protocol as they begin to get healthier. The personnel in the visitor's clubhouse Tuesday afternoon at PNC Park was all the information required to understand that the Giants, slowly but surely, are getting healthier. Among the club's traveling party for its two-city swing into the Eastern Time Zone was catcher Patrick Bailey as well as outfielders Michael Conforto and Austin Slater, who made up half of the six position players sidelined by injuries when the team's charter flight departed San Francisco. Following a second meeting with a Pittsburgh-based concussion specialist, Bailey was activated prior to first pitch and is expected to return to the starting lineup Wednesday. Conforto (hamstring) and Slater (concussion) are not certain to rejoin the active roster this trip but have begun enough baseball activities that their presence was determined to be worthwhile.

5/15/24 San Francisco Giants Take Another Injury Hit, Recall Top Prospect. Not much has gone right for the San Francisco Giants this season and plenty of that is due to the amount of injuries they've dealt with. Another player has hit the IL as the Giants have placed Patrick Bailey on the IL due to a concussion, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. San Francisco will recall Marco Luciano, who played in 14 games this season. The 22-year-old top 100 prospect had a rough start to his big league career, striking out 17 times in 39 at-bats, slashing .231/.333/.308.

5/13/24 Kurtenbach: Why the SF Giants' brutal string of injuries might be exactly what the organization needed. The Giants are running out of players. San Francisco is down six position players, including three top-part-of-the-order hitters, at the moment. Every time someone comes back, the Giants seem to lose two more. On Saturday, the Giants returned Patrick Bailey to the lineup after a week-long stint on the concussion list, only to see Michael Conforto pull his hamstring int hat game and see Jung Hoo Lee separate his shoulder in the first inning on Sunday.
