9/14/24 Angels pitcher Ben Joyce's blazing fastball draws 'terrifying' admission. Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Ben Joyce's record-breaking fastball strikes fear in the opponents he faces from atop the mound. Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is guilty of being one of those fearful batters, as he admitted in a video posted on MLB's X, formerly Twitter account. “It's horrible,” Rooker said. Rooker also mentions other pitchers who strike a similar fear into his at-bats, including Minnesota Twins closing pitcher Jhoan Duran and Pittsburgh Pirates closer Aroldis Chapman.

8/21/24 Los Angeles Angels Reliever Ben Joyce Clinches Win With Historic Strikeout. The Los Angeles Angels put quite the exclamation point on their surprise victory over the surging Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. The Angels went up 7-2 in the top of the seventh, and although they let the Royals crawl back into it with a three-run bottom of the frame, their offense made it a 9-5 contest in the top of the ninth. Since it wasn't a save opportunity anymore, Carlos Estévez stayed in the bullpen and Ben Joyce took the mound for the Angels in his place. Joyce got MJ Melendez to strike out swinging, then he forced Michael Massey into a groundout.

7/30/24 RCL Update: The Week That Was, Week 18, 2024.

The MLB trade has provided a lot of fun this season and luckily, most of our closers have stayed in a closing gig for now.  I have been stashing Ben Joyce and Andrew Nardi, just in case.  My lone Jeff Hoffman share appears to be toast, but who knows with the Phil’s bullpen.  Please, blog, may I have some more?

7/09/24 Ben Joyce primed for closing opportunities with Angels. As his success would suggest, Ben Joyce is ready for the next step as a major league reliever. Angels manager Ron Washington said Joyce is now one of the pitchers the Angels would consider for save situations if closer Carlos Estévez is not available. Luis Garcia is also in that group. “Maybe when Esty is down and if Garcia has been used, (Joyce) will be our guy we use to close games,” Washington said.
