8/31/24 New name tops CT Insider's annual top 20 list of minor leaguers with Connecticut ties. Two Connecticut natives have from the 2021 MLB Draft class have made it to the big leagues so far. Both are in the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization. Emmet Sheehan made his major-league debut last summer, filling in for the injury-depleted Dodgers' pitching staff. The Darien product pitched pretty well, even drawing praise from future Hall-of-Famer Clayton Kershaw, before being sent back down to Oklahoma City.

5/23/24 Emmet Sheehan Received Advice From Dodgers Pitchers About Tommy John Surgery. Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Emmet Sheehan underwent surgery on his right elbow to repair his ulnar collateral ligament, ending his 2024 season. Sheehan's buildup to joining the Dodgers wasn't going as well as hoped, which push the 24-year-old and the organization to opt for the Tommy John procedure. “Yeah, absolutely,” Sheehan said. The list of arms on the Dodgers who've had the same procedure is long, and the track record the franchise has of guiding pitchers following surgery is top-tier.

5/21/24 Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan Made Decision To Undergo Tommy John Surgery. Coming into the 2024 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were expecting Emmet Sheehan to compete with Gavin Stone and Landon Knack for a spot in the starting rotation. Sheehan quickly rose through the ranks of the Dodgers' Minor League system and reached Double-A Rancho Cucamonga in just his second professional season. With the Dodgers' desperate need for starting pitching in 2023, Sheehan found himself on in the Majors as a 23-year-old rookie. Sheehan had a mixed bag of a season in 2023, but he also showcased a high celling thanks to the pure stuff he possesses in his arsenal.

Shehan had begun building up his arm and was playing long toss at Dodger Stadium, and it seemed things were going well. There seems to be some miscommunication within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization with regard to the nature of Emmet Sheehan's injury that landed him on the 60-day injured list back on March 31. Sheehan's injury trouble began all the way back in the early stages of Spring Training when he was dealing with general body soreness following a bullpen session. 4/21/24 Dodgers Injuries: Emmet Sheehan 'Definitely Not' Done For The Year. After making his MLB debut last year, Emmet Sheehan viewed the 2024 season as a clear opportunity to be a relied-upon option for the Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff. Unfortunately, he's been sidelined with right forearm inflammation that has him on the 60-day injured list. The good news for the 24-year-old comes at a time when he could be of much use given Bobby Miller is also injured and the Dodgers rotation has lacked consistency.

The right-hander's ailment was updated to be right shoulder soreness before the Dodgers put Sheehan on the 15-day injured list with right forearm inflammation when they set their Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series. At the time, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Sheehan was doing well and had just faced batters.

3/31/24 Dodgers Roster: Emmet Sheehan Transferred To 60-Day Injured List. The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Emmet Sheehan to the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Nabil Crismatt on their 40-man roster. Kyle Hurt was optioned Sunday in order to add Crsimatt to the active roster prior to the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Sheehan was slowed during Spring Training because of what Dodgers general manager Dave Roberts initially described as general body soreness. 3/09/24 Dodgers Spring Training: Emmet Sheehan Unlikely To Pitch In Cactus League Games. Emmet Sheehan impressed in an unexpected opportunity with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season but has fallen behind in the competition to fill in for Walker Buehler come Opening Day. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts initially described Sheehan's ailment as general body soreness and downplayed concern. 2/27/24 Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan Dealing With Minor Health Issue, Says Dave Roberts. Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan Dealing With Minor Health Issue, Says Dave Roberts When will Sheehan be back? Author: Jason Fray Publish date: Feb 27, 2024 12:00 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Dodgers Emmet Sheehan wasn't supposed to be up in the Big Leagues last year. While a decently touted prospect, no one expected the big right-handed hurler to fly through the minor league system en route to pitching in important games for the Dodgers. Featuring a heavy fastball and a nasty changeup, the 6-foot-5 Sheehan did not look out of place at any point last year. Some projections have him slotting into an end-of-the-rotation spot at the start of this season. However, Sheehan's Spring Training

12/20/23 2023 Dodgers in review: Emmet Sheehan. Emmet Sheehan's first season in the majors is an instant classic. Sheehan absolutely dazzled in his debut, throwing six no-hit innings against the Giants—just the third pitcher ever to accomplish such a feat in his first major-league game—but still missing out on a win thanks to a shaky bullpen and some weird base running. In his second start, Sheehan continued making good on his minor-league reputation for solid innings and scorching fastballs with another six solid innings against the Astros, finally giving up his first hit in the third inning. After the All-Star break, he and fellow rookies Bobby Miller and Michael Grove combined for a 4.71 ERA in nine starts.
