9/16/24 Pirates Call Up Former Top Red Sox Infield Prospect For Major League Debut. Former Red Sox first-round draft pick Nick Yorke will make his Major League debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates after being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, the team announced. The 22-year-old infielder will get the start at second base and bat seventh in the lineup when the Pirates face the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The Red Sox dealt Yorke to the Pirates at the trade deadline in exchange for pitcher Quinn Priester.

9/04/24 Red Sox Prospect Acquired In Mid-Season Trade Dazzles On Mound. The Boston Red Sox were banking on Quinn Priester's potential when they acquired him in a trade deadline deal this season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Priester had his best performance since joining the Red Sox organization as he tossed six scoreless innings against the Rochester Red Wings. It was also a very efficient showing from Priester, who threw 47 of his 69 pitches for strikes before giving way to Worcester's bullpen.

8/07/24 Pitcher Red Sox Acquired At Deadline Could Be Future 'Force'. Four of the five players the Boston Red Sox acquired prior to last week's MLB trade deadline are contributing at the big-league level. The one player dealt to the Red Sox who is not in the majors at the moment is Quinn Priester. In the eyes of The Athletic's Andy McCullough, obtaining Priester might just be the most important move Boston made at the deadline. The Red Sox got Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for infield prospect Nick Yorke, and McCullough believes Priester could make significant contributions to the Red Sox in the future.

8/04/24 New Red Sox pitcher 'not a prospect' but excited for tweaks to reach potential. Quinn Priester has made 14 starts and thrown 94 ? innings for the Pirates over the last two seasons. All that major league experience means he's no longer technically considered a prospect. Priester himself agrees with that designation. Standing in the home clubhouse at Polar Park two days before his Red Sox organizational debut, the 23-year-old said he considers his prospect status to be a thing of the past.

8/01/24 Craig Breslow explains his intrigue in new Red Sox pitcher Quinn Priester. The Boston Red Sox made five separate moves ahead of the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday, and perhaps the most intriguing of the bunch was sending Triple-A infield prospect Nick Yorke to the Pittsburgh Pirates for right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester. Priester, 23, had struggled in his 20 appearances at the MLB level thus far, posting a 6.46 ERA (5.83) FIP and a 1.585 WHIP while striking out just 67 batters in 94 2/3 innings.

7/30/24 Craig Breslow Explains Why Red Sox Traded Top-10 Prospect. The Red Sox liked what they saw from Nick Yorke, but they knew his path to Boston was not advantageous. The organization saw enough potential in Yorke to select him with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old showed promise as he worked his way through the Red Sox system, but on Monday, the club elected to trade Yorke to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for pitching prospect Quinn Priester. As chief baseball officer Craig Breslow explained to the media after the deal was finalized, the 1-for-1 swap had more to do with Boston's intrigue in Priester and less with any reservations toward Yorke.

7/27/24 Rare off night from Pirates' pitching staff results in another loss to Diamondbacks. After a dreadful start, Derek Shelton's club entered the bottom of the fifth inning with a fresh slate. Similar to what their opponent achieved the night before, the Pirates battled back to erase a three-run deficit, giving themselves new life in a key game against a club just ahead of them in the National League wild-card race. Quinn Priester toed the rubber for the Pirates following their big, three-run inning, looking to keep things close. Arizona's lineup punished Priester, tallying five runs in the next two innings, ultimately setting up a 9-5 win Saturday night and a series victory at Chase Field.

9/22/23 An unforgettable debut at Wrigley Field for local Quinn Priester — with a chance to spoil Chicago Cubs' postseason hopes. Quinn Priester's jog from the visitors bullpen under the right field bleachers at Wrigley Field between half innings Tuesday night required a moment to appreciate the environment. When Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton called on Priester to begin the second inning against the Cubs, the Cary native and Cary-Grove High School graduate couldn't help but soak it in. Priester made sure he took a deep breath and looked around at the 34,202 fans in the ballpark. In his first big-league game against his favorite childhood team, Priester allowed four runs in six innings Tuesday versus the Cubs in a 14-1 loss.

9/12/23 Quinn Preister added to taxi squad. RHP Quinn Priester has been added to the taxi squad per a team announcement. Priester, a top 100 prospect (92 overall), was called up originally on July 17 before being optioned back on August 15. When your line is that bad it can be hard to pinpoint an exact issue, but if you were to pick just one it would be his sinker and four-seam fastball getting absolutely clobbered by MLB hitters. It simply wasn't cutting it at the MLB level, so the Pirates optioned him back down to AAA Indianapolis.
