9/17/24 Angels' Top Prospect is Demoted, Ending His Season. The Los Angeles Angels have optioned pitching prospect Caden Dana to the minor leagues prior to the conclusion of the 2024 MLB season. Dana made his most recent start on Sept. 15, and pitched just 3.1 innings before he was removed after allowing five hits, five runs (four earned), and two walks while striking out three. The start prior, Dana pitched only one inning but was removed after giving up seven hits, five earned runs, and three home runs while striking out just one. Angels manager Ron Washington said the team made the decision to avoid giving Dana more "negative vibes" as the starts did not go his way.

9/16/24 Angels send down top prospect Caden Dana after 2 straight rough starts. Caden Dana is going to have to wait until next year to show that he's better than the 10.45 ERA he had after three starts in the major leagues. The Angels announced on Monday that they optioned Dana, ending the season for the 20-year-old right-hander. “He had a long year and we don't want him out there getting negative vibes about his outings when they're not going the way he wanted them to go,” Manager Ron Washington said. The Angels' top prospect, Dana was promoted to the majors from Double-A. He became the youngest pitcher to start a game for the Angels in more than 50 years when he pitched on Sept. 1 against the Seattle Mariners.

9/01/24 Angels RHP Caden Dana, 20, to make debut vs. Mariners. The starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday will not be much older than many of the Little Leaguers who occasionally parade around the perimeter of the field on Sundays at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. Right-hander Caden Dana, 20, will make his major league debut for the Angels (56-80) on Sunday in the rubber match of the three-game series against the Seattle Mariners (69-67). Dana will be the youngest pitcher to take the mound for the club since Francisco Rodriguez in 2002, and the youngest to start a game since a then-20-year-old Frank Tanana in 1973.
