Hendriks underwent Tommy John surgery last August and made six minor-league rehab appearances from Aug. 18 to Sept. 5 this year. It was not expected, but it was part of the process. In fact, the team and Hendriks agreed that it would be better if the righthander tossed live batting practices as a means of expediting his rehab process.
