6/12/24 Twins bring back Jay Jackson from St. Paul. The Minnesota Twins have brought back reliever Jay Jackson ahead of Wednesday's series finale against Colorado. Jackson was one of the Twins' few offseason additions but struggled out of the gates, going 1-2 with a 6.85 ERA over 22.1 innings. To make room for him on the roster, Minnesota optioned Louie Varland, who started Tuesday's game and pitched five scoreless innings, and designated reliever Diego Castillo for assignment. Castillo was sent down earlier this week after appearing in five games for the Twins, in which he allowed two runs across seven innings.

For that, he was rewarded with the first major-league contract of his career, signing a one-year pact with the Twins earlier this month.

Former Toronto Blue Jays Reliever Could Be Fit for Rebuilding Oakland A's The Oakland A's will be after some pitching depth this offseason, and Jay Jackson could be an interesting target Author: Jason Burke Publish date: Nov 6, 2023 8:00 AM EST Just a few days ago, former Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jay Jackson elected free agency. The name may not be familiar, but the results he has put up in the big leagues have been solid over some short stints around the league, including a 2.12 ERA ERA with a 0.91 WHIP in 2023 across 29 2/3 innings. The 36-year-old right-hander doesn't throw particularly hard, sitting 93 with his fastball, but he was at least league average in every facet of the game

Many were quick to ask about the baby's name, given that Jose Bautista is one of the city's most iconic athletes of all time.

3/30/23 Blue Jays Jays. The Blue Jays conducted a pretty neat piece of business yesterday, re-signing reliever Jay Jackson to a major league contract after releasing him form his minor league deal earlier in the week. Jackson, a 35-year-old veteran journeyman, twirled nine scoreless innings during spring training, fanning 13. Jackson won't be with Toronto to start the season but he will be anchoring the Buffalo Bisons bullpen instead, ready to step in when needed. When he gets called up, he will become the first “Jay” to ever play for the Toronto Blue Jays.

3/25/23 Jays release Jay Jackson. The Jays have released reliever Jay Jackson. Today was the deadline to either put him on the roster or release him. He couldn't have had a better spring, pitching 9.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 walks with 13 strikeouts and no earned runs (2 unearned). But Nate Pearson, Zack Pop and Mitch White have all had nice springs too, and there is only one open spot. I think someone will grab Jackson. It is too bad, he would be a handy guy to have in Buffalo waiting for the chance that will likely come along before too long. But I would rather Pearson get the last bullpen spot. Jay Jackson, who impressed in #BlueJays camp with a 95-96 m.p.h. fastball & hard slider, is now a free agent per source. The Jays

9/17/22 Former SF Giants fan favorite Jay Jackson designated for assignment. Former SF Giants reliever Jay Jackson was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Friday to create a space on the 40-man roster for Ozzie Albies. Jackson was a reliever in the Giants organization last season and was traded to Atlanta for cash and a possible player to be named later (San Francisco has not received a player). Jackson was expected to compete for a spot in Atlanta's Opening Day bullpen in spring training, but a lat strain kept him out for the first months of the season.

11/30/21 Jay Jackson is probably better than you think. You’d understand if the Giants wanted to run it back with him, thinking the numbers would stabilize. You certainly see why the Atlanta Braves, fresh off a World Series win, decided to trade for him. Third, he was the subject of some public racism and vitriol after a few rough appearances, which was one of the few ugly moments in a fabulous Giants season.
