8/06/24 Angels reinstate Rendon; weather delays return. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon's return to the lineup was delayed Tuesday, not by his health but by inclement weather for the scheduled game against the host New York Yankees. The Angels reinstated the oft-injured Rendon from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday ahead of the game, which was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. Rendon had gone on the IL on July 30, retroactive to July 27, after he missed two games with low back inflammation against the Oakland Athletics. The Angels placed outfielder Taylor Ward, 30, on the paternity list on Tuesday, and he can miss a maximum of three days.

7/16/24 Angels Won't Retain Former All-Star After Designating Him for Assignment. The Los Angeles Angels have released third baseman Miguel Sanó after designating him for assignment on July 8, per MLB Trade Rumors. The Angels originally designated Sanó after they activated third baseman Anthony Rendon from the injured list. Sanó last played for the Angels on July 5 in a 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Sanó was released after he failed to record a hit or a run in each of his last four games with the Angels. The former All-Star dealt with left knee inflammation in late April.

7/09/24 Angels' Anthony Rendon makes vow as he returns from 68-game injury absence. After a lengthy absence, Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon was back on Monday during a series-opener at home versus the visiting and reigning World Series champions Texas Rangers. Rendon missed a total of 68 games before resurfacing in the Rangers game. A hamstring injury sustained by Rendon forced the Angels to put him on the 60-day injured list, but he's now back ready to provide what he can for the Halos, who are lagging way behind the race to the top of the American League West division.

ANAHEIM, Calif. --Anthony Rendon has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will bat leadoff Monday night for the Los Angeles Angels against the Texas Rangers. 7/06/24 Anthony Rendon Very Close to Return to Angels Barring Setback. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon could be back as early as next week, barring any setbacks. According to Jeff Fletcher for the Orange County Register, Rendon is expected to take live batting practice this weekend and, if all goes well, could be activated from the injured list as soon as July 8. Rendon will not be going on a minor-league rehab assignment after mulling over whether or not he'd want to do it. Due to Rendon's almost two and a half months, the Halos may decide to work him back into the lineup at a slow pace.

7/03/24 Anthony Rendon could return very soon, but is that even good news for the Angels?. For the Los Angeles Angels, Anthony Rendon's constant uncertain status has been difficult to work around. While relying on Rendon to stay on the field is an objectively bad bet, the Angels are also kind of pot-committed to at least trying to get something out of him given how much they are paying him. As a result, the team has been forced to be patient as Rendon rehabs from his hamstring injury. The latest word is that not only is Rendon going to face live pitching soon, but the consensus seems to be that, against all odds, he could return before the All-Star break.

The Angels are heading on a six-game road trip this week as they face the Oakland Athletics and Chicago Cubs, but they are expecting Rendon to be back on the field when they make their return to Angel Stadium on July 8 for the start of their series against the Texas Rangers. “When we come back, hopefully, he'll be ready to go right before the All-Star break,” Angels manager Ron Washington said, via Jeff Fletcher of the O.C. Register.

6/30/24 Angels' Rendon could be ready before All-Star break after more than two months out. A six-game road trip awaits for the Angels, who then are expected to finally see the return of third baseman Anthony Rendon when they play at home July 8 against the Texas Rangers. As the team plays at Oakland and Chicago to face the Cubs over the next week, Rendon will put the finishing touches on his rehab from a partial tear in his hamstring that has kept him out for more than two months. The major step will come next weekend when Rendon faces live pitching in a controlled setting at Angel Stadium either Thursday and Friday, or Friday and Saturday, according to manager Ron Washington. “When we come back, hopefully, he'll be ready to go right before the All-Star break,” Washington said.
