9/15/24 Mets' Jose Quintana open to bullpen move if Kodai Senga makes injury return. PHILADELPHIA — Jose Quintana is all for Kodai Senga returning to the pitching staff when he's recovered from the strained left calf that's sidelined him since July. And the lefty said Sunday he'd be willing to pitch out of the bullpen if need be to make room for Senga. “My focus is on my next start, but I think when Senga comes back, he's gonna help us a lot, so whatever way I can help, I will do it,'' Quintana said before the Mets lost to Philadelphia, 2-1, at Citizens Bank Park . “It's not a big deal. Right now, it's not a time to be about myself. It's about the team. If it's good for the team, I'm open to doing it.” President of baseball operations David Stearns said Friday he was “optimistic”

8/25/24 Mets' Jose Quintana aims to get on track in clash vs. Padres. With a chance to post a series win Sunday afternoon against one of the top teams in baseball, the New York Mets hope left-hander Jose Quintana can figure out why he's struggled so much this month. Quintana will try to lower his puffy 8.27 ERA in August when he takes the mound for the series finale against the host San Diego Padres. "I have been struggling, but I am not feeling the way I was at the beginning of the season," Quintana said. Quintana certainly can't be much worse than he was Tuesday in a 9-5 home loss to Baltimore, which rocked him for seven runs on eight hits in five innings.

8/24/24 Jose Quintana's source of struggle is 'tough' to pinpoint for Mets coaches. SAN DIEGO — When Jose Quintana was struggling earlier in the season, mechanics were largely the issue. But in evaluating his recent body of work, the Mets lefty can't pinpoint a reason for his troubles. Quintana, who is scheduled to face the Padres in Sunday's series finale at Petco Park, has pitched to an 8.27 ERA in August. In each of his last three starts he has allowed at least four earned runs. 8/15/24 Mets' implosion against A's deals another blow to wild-card hopes. After getting demolished by the Mariners in a three-game sweep in Seattle, the Mets returned home and lost a series to the A's, as their wild-card hopes took another hit. Thursday's 7-6 loss at Citi Field was especially ugly considering they blew an early 5-0 lead with Jose Quintana on the mound.
