9/08/24 Guardians shake up pen, DFA Barlow, recall Gose. In need of reinforcements for their bullpen, the Cleveland Guardians designated right-hander Scott Barlow for assignment and recalled left-hander Anthony Gose in advance of Sunday's series finale on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Guardians used five relievers over 7 1/3 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. Barlow, 31, was 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 63 relief appearances this season, while giving up at least one run in four of his past nine outings.

11/17/23 Guardians acquire RHP Barlow from Padres, avoid arbitration with OF Laureano with $5.15M deal. The Cleveland Guardians made their second trade Friday, swapping relievers with San Diego and acquiring right-hander Scott Barlow from the Padres for Enyel De Los Santos. The 30-year-old Barlow is back in the AL Central after spending most of his big league career with the Kansas City Royals. Ahead of the 8 p.m. deadline to offer 2024 contracts to unsigned players on 40-man rosters, the Guardians agreed to a $5.15 million, one-year deal with outfielder Ramón Laureano.

The Royals took two of three games each against the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros before welcoming the Guardians to Kauffman Stadium on Monday. Kansas City scored four in the eighth Monday to overcome a three-run deficit, collecting its 19th come-from-behind win. After trading closer Scott Barlow and setup man Aroldis Chapman in deadline deals, the club struggled to find a reliable bullpen stopper.

The Kansas City Royals will seek back-to-back wins for the first time since April 7 and 8 -- and just the second time all season -- when they finish a four-game road series on Sunday in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Twins. The Royals scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings on Saturday to gain a 3-2 win, snapping a three-game skid that included the first two games of this weekend's divisional series against the Twins. "It felt really, really good," Royals relief pitcher Scott Barlow told Bally Sports Kansas City following his team's win on Saturday. 4/29/23 Royals win wild one, 3-2. The Reflex of any Royals fan in the bottom of the ninth was probably to expect this game to end in a walk-off loss. Closer Scott Barlow came on, got an out, but allowed the next two runners to reach before facing off against Byron Buxton. Fortunately, he didn't Come Undone and Buxton struck out looking and Barlow successfully escaped the game by inducing a ground out from Trevor Larnach. Brad Keller continued his struggles with command he walked five while striking out only four in 5.1 innings of one-run ball.
