5/13/24 Catcher gets his World Series ring; now he wants to get one for Cleveland. 5/01/24 Cleveland Guardians' Catcher Austin Hedges Would Make A Good Manager. Cleveland Guardians catcher, Austin Hedges, may have all the requirements to become an outstanding Major League Baseball manager. As a back-up catcher, Hedges brings outstanding defensive ability to his game. A right-handed hitter, Hedges won't ever make a living in baseball based on his offensive ability. Not much of a hitter, the 6-1, 220 pound Hedges has never hit above .231 in any of parts of 10 major league seasons.

2/20/24 Austin Hedges' Mom Prevented Assless Chaps At Rangers World Series Parade. Former Texas Rangers catcher Austin Hedges was never afraid to show his emotions during the club's World Series run last fall. At the team's championship parade and celebration on Nov. 3, Hedges nearly showed more than his emotions. It helped Hedges become a lightning rod on social media as the team's biggest cheerleader and his morale-boosting clubhouse shenanigans. Hedges, who signed a free-agent deal with the Cleveland Guardians this winter, wanted to cap the "surreal" season by wearing bottomless chaps to the parade, but his mother, who along with his father rode in the parade with him, shot the idea down.
