8/26/24 3 prospects Cardinals must promote for playoff stretch run. After missing out on the playoffs last year, the St. Louis Cardinals are fighting to reach the postseason in 2024. Despite the confidence of starting pitcher Miles Mikolas who believes the Cardinals can win 17 straight if necessary, the reality is St. Louis is a long shot to make the playoffs. The team is trying to bounce back from an uncharacteristic losing season in 2023, the Cardinals' first losing season since 2007. St. Louis is 65-65 entering play on Monday.

8/17/24 Here's why the Cardinals leaned on Miles Mikolas against the Dodgers, and how it went wrong. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol tried to wring one more out from starting pitcher Miles Mikolas' start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. Marmol desperately wanted to get his starter through the sixth inning and keep the club's slim lead intact. Dodgers star Mookie Betts got a hold of a Mikolas pitch for a solo home run, but then Mikolas got within one out of getting through the frame with a one-run lead.

8/05/24 Miles Mikolas drops stern take after Cubs series loss. Miles Mikolas is pitching through a brutal season for the St. Louis Cardinals and it seems his patience is running thin — both with himself and his team's squandered opportunities. The Cardinals enter play on Monday with a 57-55 record, putting them 5.5 games behind the Brewers in the National League Central and 3 games out of a Wild Card berth. FanGraphs puts the Cardinals' playoff chances at 20.5%. St. Louis just needs to win games, and a series in which they lost three out of four to the sub-.500 Cubs is only making things more difficult.
