Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien was named the club's nominee for the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award on Monday. The award is presented annually to the player “who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions, both on and off the field.” The Rangers have yet to have a player win the award since it was first presented in 1971. Marcus Semien hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh inning and the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 in the resumption of a game suspended after just four pitches. Corey Seager added a run-scoring single as Texas improved to 5-0 against Chicago this season. Matt Festa got three outs for the win, and Kirby Yates handled the ninth for his 24th save. Semien was at the plate and Garrett Crochet was on the mound Tuesday night when a fast-moving storm resulted in a delay. The game was eventually suspended because of persistent rain. Tuesday's game between the Texas Rangers and host Chicago White Sox was suspended after four pitches and eventually called due to rain. Rangers leadoff batter Marcus Semien worked a 2-2 count against Chicago starting pitcher Garrett Crochet in the top of the first inning before the game was suspended amid pouring rain.
