(AP) — It took almost three months, but the White Sox are on a three-game winning streak again. 9/15/24 | White Sox encouraged by Andrew Benintendi's strong finish. Signed to a five-year, $75 million pact before the 2023 season that still stands as the richest contract in team history, Andrew Benintendi has struggled to live up to that deal as the White Sox have plummeted to the bottom of the sport. Recently, Benintendi has shown signs of life. Entering Sunday's game against the Athletics, Benintendi was slashing .284/.358/.552 since July 31, capped by his walk-off home run Saturday. “It's really good to see just how he's handled everything,” interim manager Grady Sizemore said. 9/15/24 | Benintendi hits a game-ending homer as the White Sox stop their home slide with 7-6 win over A's. Andrew Benintendi hit a leadoff homer in the ninth inning, and the Chicago White Sox stopped a 16-game home losing streak by edging the Oakland Athletics 7-6. Benintendi, Luis Robert Jr., Nicky Lopez and Lenyn Sosa each had three hits for Chicago, which had dropped four in a row overall. Lopez finished with three RBIs. The home slide was a franchise record. At 34-115, the White Sox are hoping to avoid the majors’ post-1900 record for losses — 120 by the 1962 New York Mets in their inaugural season.
