| 9/10/24 | DJ Stewart gets start with Mets second chance extended by Jeff McNeil injury. TORONTO — DJ Stewart is receiving another chance. The Mets outfielder/designated hitter was passed over for a spot when rosters expanded on Sept. 1 and the odds seemed great that other than a three-day hitch filling in for J.D. Martinez on paternity leave he would finish the season at Triple-A Syracuse. Jeff McNeil's fractured right wrist that will keep him out for the remainder of the regular season changed the equation. Stewart not only returned last weekend to provide a lefty bat off the bench but Tuesday he was thrust into the starting lineup as the right fielder in the Mets' 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays . | 6/18/24 | Mets get 22 hits and their 6th win in a row, 14-2 over reigning World Series champ Rangers. DJ Stewart hit a three-run homer and Brandon Nimmo also went deep around a bunch of singles as the New York Mets extended their winning streak to six games with a 14-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. The Mets had 22 hits, 17 of those singles. Leadoff batter Francisco Lindor went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs — all in the first five innings. Pete Alonso had three singles, two of those driving in runs. Nimmo’s two-run shot with nobody out in the fourth made it 9-2. He also had a pair of RBI singles.
