The Philadelphia Phillies have started to play better recently after about two months of their worst play in a very long time. Carlos Estevez has been excellent, posting a 1.72 ERA in 15 2/3 innings pitched, striking out 16 hitters in that span. In 19 games with the Phillies, he hasn't been great, posting a .254/.275/.373 slash line and an OPS+ of 81. The Phillies had a strong stable of arms, but manager Rob Thomson mixes and matches without set roles in the backend. Despite some of their struggles in recent weeks, it's still safe to say that they're the favorite to win the World Series as of right now. Dave Dombrowski has done an excellent job with this roster, and if things go as planned, they should be one of the better teams in the league for the next five-plus campaigns. Current Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, has operated with a borderline reckless approach when it comes to his team's prospects in the past. Many expected that to be the case at this year's deadline, and while he certainly spent aggressively to land star closer Carlos Estevez, the future Hall of Famer was much more reserved regarding his prospect pool than he has been before. Signed by Philadelphia in 2016, he climbed up the ranks and burst onto the scene in 2019 when he was regarded as their 12th-best prospect.
