Pinch hitter George Springer singled off right-hander Andrew Kittredge with one out in the eighth and Lukes followed with an RBI double into the left field corner. Davis Schneider added a two-run home run, his second homer in two games, to help the Blue Jays sweep their fifth series of the season.

9/10/24 Nathan Lukes has done nothing but hit since joining the Blue Jays. But is he too old to be part of the new wave?. The Blue Jays have gone full youth movement since gutting the team at the July 30 trade deadline, and the kids have brought an energy and enthusiasm that wasn't seen around these parts earlier in the season. Thirty-year-old Nathan Lukes (pronounced Lucas) was finally called up Aug. 30, three weeks after returning from thumb surgery that had him on the sidelines for two months, and is batting .435 with the big club. Since the Jays signed the Oregonian to a minor-league contract before the 2022 season, all he has done is hit. It started with a solid 2022 in Buffalo after two seasons in the Cleveland organization and another four with Tampa Bay, and he finally made his major-league debut on opening day last year, pinch-running for Brandon Belt and scoring the tying run in an eventual 10-9 Jays win in St. Louis.
