9/11/24 San Francisco Giants Provide Update Status of Pair of Injured Starters. The San Francisco Giants have two starting pitchers that are at different points in their recovery from injuries. Right-hander Jordan Hicks started a rehab assignment with Class A San Jose on Tuesday night, the next step toward a return to the rotation. Meanwhile, Robbie Ray will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, per multiple outlets following the team, including NBC Sports Bay Area. The Giants put Hicks on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 27 with right shoulder inflammation.

9/07/24 Will San Francisco Giants Regret Superstar's Massive Contract Extension?. Not much has gone right this year for the San Francisco Giants, who have fallen below .500 and are on pace to miss the playoffs for the third consecutive season. There have been several bright spots, however, notably Tyer Fitzgerald's historic power surge, Jordan Hicks' successful transition to the rotation and Blake Snell's no-hitter. The biggest one has arguably been Matt Chapman, who's putting the finishing touches on another All-Star-caliber season in his return to the Bay Area. The 31-year-old has proven to be one of the best signings of the offseason, slashing .249/.334/.446 with 22 home runs, 91 runs and 69 RBI.

9/01/24 How Jordan Hicks plans to prepare for his second season in SF Giants' starting rotation. In his previous life as a high-leverage reliever, Jordan Hicks conditioned himself for single-inning sprints. Looking ahead to next year, his second season in the Giants' starting rotation, Hicks said he's in need of a different kind of conditioning. Hicks was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this week with inflammation in his right shoulder but said his entire body was feeling the effects of his transition to the starting rotation and the largest workload of his career that accompanied it. When he entered their game the next night, his velocity was down in the 92-93 mph range, and Hicks said he “didn't feel great.”

7/26/24 San Francisco Giants Rotation Faces Key Decision This Weekend. The San Francisco Giants will cram four games into three days at home against the Colorado Rockies, thanks to a doubleheader on Saturday. With that, the Giants face a decision at the back end of that four-game series, according to reporting from NBC Sports Bay Area. The first three starters are set, but Sunday's game will likely be "Jordan Hicks' last start or Alex Cobb's first," per the outlet. Cobb is nearly ready to return from his injury rehab and after a strong start to the season while Hicks has trailed off in terms of performance, putting manager Bob Melvin in a bit of a spot.
