9/12/24 | Yankees Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. Had Funny Reaction to First Career Walk-Off Ice Bath. New York Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. stepped into the batter's box in the bottom of the 11th inning on Wednesday night with runners on first and third against the Kansas City Royals. With the infield playing in to try to prevent the game-winning run from being scored, Chisholm hit a slider to the left side of the infield. Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. couldn't make a play after his diving stop, and the game-winning run came home to score as the Yankees walked off a 4-3 win in the Bronx. The walk-off hit by Chisholm was consequential given the state of the playoff race in the AL East. It is another to have them in your lineup on a daily basis and witness first-hand the impact they can make on a game. That is what the Yankees are currently finding out about Jazz Chisholm Jr. For a team that was in need of speed and athleticism — largely devoid of it before the trade deadline, aside from Anthony Volpe — the Yankees' acquisition of Chisholm Source: https://nypost.com/2024/09/06/sports/jazz-chisholm... |
9/05/24 | Yankees' trade deadline push didn't deliver bullpen help. The Yankees made arguably the best deadline-day pickup in Jazz Chisholm Jr. (1.038 OPS in pinstripes). Others in contention for best trades by contenders are Jack Flaherty (4-1, 3.18), Michael Kopech (0.59 ERA) and versatile Tommy Edman by the Dodgers; Zach Eflin (5-0, 1.95) by the Orioles; Tanner Scott (2.25) and Jason Adam (1.56) by the Padres; Jesse Winker (two game-deciding homers) by the Mets; and A.J. Puk (0.60 ERA) by the Diamondbacks. The Yankees' biggest issue remains their bullpen, as Mark Leiter Jr. hasn't pitched up to his Cubs standards yet.
